eers to assist in this rescue journey and become the leader and partner for horses and humans a like. Our page gives people a chance to follow a rescue horse from the time it comes in, up until adoption. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that no one gets to see. We all care, and so many want to help, that we want to provide the details of the wonderful results that come from your generous donations. The rescue horses come to us from other rescues or we bring them in on our own. We provide the care, training, and housing for the horse and all the love and attention we can give. The Rescue covers all Vet, feed, and farrier costs thru donations. We are a not-for profit that is 100% volunteers. Our devoted trainers work for minimal charge and when there are no funds to pay them they don't just stop they continue as volunteers. Please follow us for daily postings and invite all your friends. Please feel free to follow even if you don't want to donate when the call goes out. When we send out a call for donations it will be to help pay for hay and feed or vet or pay the trainer, that works with the horse right at our farm. Total weekly donations will be posted and you will be told where the money is being spent . We want people to know what happens to their money they donate and be able to see the progress of the horse and have a part in the bitter sweet experience when a horse gets healthy and finds its forever home. There is so much joy in your heart for them and their future but a little sorrow in their leaving. But then you can help another and sadly there will always be another. So please join us in this Journey and invite all you friends and family.

Sunday morning update- Thank you everyone that donated for feed for the horses it was picked up yesterday and delivered to the rescue ,updated need is below. We also have a donation to repair the truck it will be towed to the garage Monday . //// Willie is very sad. Rainbows Edges truck is broke down, it needs a new water pump. he knows this means we have no way to go get your donations from the feed store. Luckily the treasurer Kathy called and said if we get the donations sent to the feed store her and her hubby will pick them up Sat morning and bring them to the rescue. So now we need to hurry and raise the funds to get feed for the rest of Dec at least. Total we need 9 bags Profecta 12 / 1 Equine Senior / 10 Triple Crown Senior / 2 bags alfalfa pellets.
This order will last appox 30 days. We are not sure when the truck will be fixed. The horses care comes first and foremost . Your donations that came in for giving Tuesday will get them 4 rolls of hay which should last the rest of December with what you all ready have here.. The Farrier was paid for last Friday , Vet bill for that day we will let you know as soon as we get it.
We know with Christmas closing in funds get tight and the horses so appreciate you caring and sending a donation for their feed. Remember no donation is to small together they add up. If everyone that likes and follows the horses at Rainbows Edge sent $5 that would get their feed and cover the Vet bill. There is no donation to small. .
Florida Farm and Feed make donating easy . We called Tom this morning and he said they are ready to receive your calls to help the horses. FFF 850-878-8441 Thank you everyone for all you do and may you have a very blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. From all the horses at Rainbows Edge

Welcome to Giving Tuesday. The horses at Rainbows Edge have had quite the storm season. We still have shelters that need repair, We lost our 2 feed sheds. We lost our big stallion coral. All need to be replaced or rebuilt. We still have trees on fences and o the sheds. We have been told by several people they will not touch the tree on the sheds with out a crane attached to the tree,Its to dangerous to cut with out it. If they tried to cut it as it is it will also take out one or two more sheds.
Its the winter months your donations are bringing in the hay needed to help keep the horses warm through these crazy temps we are getting in Florida right now.
Rainbows Edge runs 100% on donations and with volunteers. We would be very grateful for your choice in picking the horses at Rainbows Edge Inc on the greatest giving day of the year.
Donations can be made through Paypal [email protected]
Venmo or Zell 850-509-5224 if phone # needed
Thank you everyone and may your holidays be blessed with happiness and love.

ADOPTION ALERT - Congrats now registered Cool Hand Luke- Florida Cracker Horse. Luke is now at his forever home with his new family and Human Dad Mike Hardee. Mike is with the Florida Cracker Horse Asso which are the caretakers of the registration and future of the Florida Cracker Breed.
Since 1989, the FCHA has helped the Florida Cracker Horse breed grow from 31 registered horses to over 1,000. Luke's registration # is in the 1800's. .That is not many if you compare to other registered breeds in the US.
Luke came to us at 3 months old when his mom rejected him .Luke is now 1 1/2 yrs old. Rainbows Edge and volunteers were honored with the trust to raise and care for him from the Cracker Horse Heritage Foundation. It has been a joy watching Luke grow and being a part of a program to save the Florida Cracker Horse Breed.
Luke will now be trained to represent his breed at shows and to help spread the knowledge and history of the Florida Cracker. When he gets older he will be trained to work cows and yes Florida Cracker cows just as his ancestors did and still do to this day. You can learn more about the Florida Cracker Horses at https://floridacrackerhorseassociation.com/

VETERINARIANS ,VET TECHS, DOG AND EQUINE TRAINERS,CURRENT AND RETIRED. THERE IS A MEETING IN TALLAHASSEE FLORIDA AT TALLAHASSSEE STATE COLLEGE.YOUR PRESENCE IS NEEDED AND REQUESTED.OCTOBER 29th. In cases of domestic violence women very often will not leave because they know if they do they are leaving their loved animals behind with the abuser, and that leaves them in danger to suffer the abuse or worse alone. The Domestic Violence Advocacy Council of the Big Bend has asked for a program to be set up to help with this . The Big Bend Shelters are not set up to handle the intake of the animals in the Shelters that house the Woman and Children.
A new group has been formed to work closely with them ANIMALS OF DOMESTIC VIOENCE COALITION . Its time for change and to further not only the protection of the women and children but the animals feeling trapped because they can not all get out safely together. This is 2024 its time for change. IF YOU CAN MAKE THIS MEETING FOR AN HOUR OR THE DAY IT WILL BE GOING ON FROM 9AM TO 4 PM. These animals in this program will need the same protection and safe keeping as the human shelters ( which locations are unknown ) as they wait for the day they can join back together as a whole safe family in their new homes. IF YOU FIND THIS IS SOME THING THAT GRABS YOUR HEART AND WOULD LIKE TO BE A DONOR SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS PROGRAM FOR THE ANIMALS OF THE BIG BEND PLEASE CONTACT US AND YOU WILL BE PUT IN TOUCH WITH THE CONTACTS FOR THIS OR PM FOR INFO ON THE MEETING ON THE 29TH AND JOIN EVERYONE. THIS CAN HAPPEN BUT ITS GOING TO TAKE A VILLAGE.

Together we are so much stronger for the animals

Here’s one more post today to show how the Pinellas County community really comes together!

The following organizations received extra pet food donations and asked us if we needed more for our pantry, too. Last year, we gave out over 17,000 lbs of pet food to keep pets with their families. This year, we will certainly exceed that number!

Thank you Rainbows Edge Equine Transition Center for the long journey to Pinellas and the multiple food drops all over the Tampa Bay Area; Protecting Paws For Life for pet food & treats and the important work you do helping keep pets together with those affected by domestic violence; and SPCA Tampa Bay for once again sharing resources to help us better serve our community.

Our pet food pantry is open during our regular business hours: Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 6 pm and Saturday 9 am - 1 pm.
12450 Ulmerton Rd, Largo - right next to Florida Botanical Gardens & Sunstar.

People have asked why we travel almost an hour to a feed store. We use to be closer and Florida Farm and Feed has always been good to the horses at Rainbows Edge Equine Transition Center. Their customer service is top notch . They know their products and they honestly care about their customers human and Equine. They make it easy for people to call in donations and keep great book keeping for our treasurer.
Today we went to pick up enough feed to last the rest of October . Thank you everyone that donated and shared the horses post for the need of feed and hay donations. I went in the feed store, bought what we needed and when I got out back to the loading dock where the truck was this is what I saw . They had filled it to the top with feed. The manager Josh said " We wanted to help the horses at Rainbows Edge ". This gift is such a blessing for the horses. We believe this load will get us through November as well or very close to it.
With all the clean up and work still in front of us because of the hurricanes this takes a lot of weight off us . Thank you Florida Farm & Feed, Inc.
