Wag 'N Train LLC is here for your training and problem solving needs. I prefer to work with owners in their home, however I do have small classes at various Vet Clinics in the area and can work with clients at my kennel. Our philosophy is to give you the skills to continue to help your dog throughout it's lifetime. We use a training method based on what science knows about how animals learn, the

science of applied behavior analysis. What we give you are skills that will strengthen your bond with your pet. With that special bond, and the techniques of clicker training, your dog's learning will accelerate as it understands what you are asking for. By learning the behavior, your pet retains the behavior for recall later. Clicker training creates enthusiastic, creative learners, which makes it fun for you and your pet. It is based on rewarding the behavior you want, with positive reinforcement. Giving your pet something it wants and likes, which increases the likelihood the behavior will repeat. If you want a way to train your pet, that increases your connection with it, that gives you a skill set to continue that training, that is fun for both you and your pet, and is based on the science of learning... we are your training company!

EVER WANTED TO PARTICIPATE IN A 1 ON 1 CANINE FITNESS PROGRAM?
I have been on this journey since last May, and we are finally at the end of our classes. This first Cohort is now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and are busy preparing for our required Case Studies.

I am so excited about this opportunity! The course work has been a good challenge and we have learned so much.
I have one great handler and dog team, speaking with a 2nd and now am looking for a 3rd. If you have ever been interested in Canine Fitness, here is your chance to work with a CPCFT Candidate! I am looking for someone with a puppy who is sound, either working or pet that is willing to put in work over 6 weeks to reach a goal for you and your pup! This is a program worth $500! I am opening requests over the next week. If you are interested, comment below with your name, your pup's name, breed and age. You must be in the Dallas/Fort Worth "area". I will be messaging you back with some questions about what you are looking for, and your willingness to commit to the program. Thank you in advance!

A direct quote from another trainer's comments on one of my posts. Which exemplifies why it is ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ important that you do your research before you hire someone to work with your & your dog. Because, in an unregulated industry like dog training, ethics and methodologies vary widely.

So look into a trainer's methods. Do your homework. Understand what they will, and will not, do to your dog. Make sure you understand & are comfortable with their approach. Make sure you are happy that it's a good fit for your dog. Ask questions if you're not sure.

Do your due diligence; because your dog can't.

Unit 3, we are swinging along and learning so much! Actual pictures from our last week's class!

Currently the CPCFT candidates who are in Unit 3 are learning how to build a thoughtful and effective conditioning plan, and it all starts with a diagnostic assessment!

During the intake appointment, CPCFTs complete a diagnostic assessment by documenting structure/stance, gait, and completing an intake interview. The diagnostic assessment may also use measurements and general observations. A diagnostic assessment doesn't provide a "diagnosis"; instead it's an important step in helping the CPCFT to determine the best path forward for the dog and owner. Keep reading for three of the most important reasons we include diagnostic assessments in our conditioning plans!

Firstly, a diagnostic assessment allows us to determine if the dog is a candidate for conditioning, or if we should be encouraging the owner to access other care providers in the community such as vets, rehab specialists, groomers, or massage therapists. These other services may be in place of conditioning or in conjunction with conditioning, depending on the circumstances. Completing a diagnostic assessment is key to the main tenet of the CPCFT program, which is โ€œDo no Harmโ€, and is an important part of both online and in-person services.

Secondly, a diagnostic assessment helps us set specific goals and gain a sense of the approximate timeline needed to achieve those goals. While we often talk about goals that focus on improving strength/flexibility/balance/proprioception, other common goals include weight loss, improved mobility (especially for senior dogs), and developing general conditioning skills so owners can be proactive in the care of their dogs over the long term.

Lastly, the diagnostic assessment also gives us a chance to know the owners. Participants in classes, seminars, and training sessions often have prior knowledge, experience, or relevant skill sets that may influence the way a CPCFT approaches a goal or an exercise, and knowing that information in advance of starting instruction can help us choose an approach that builds upon that prior knowledge, saving time and ensuring the unique needs of the client are met.

Whether we're talking about dogs or their owners, we know it's important to recognize that not all clients need to have the same start line, and they also donโ€™t need to have the same finish line. The diagnostic assessment allows us to place the start line in the lane and at the distance that will benefit our clients the most.

This webpage is helping me tremendously in understanding dog gaits. You can watch in normal, slow motion and step by step. It has guides for foot fall, stance and swing phases, which paws show power push off etc. Neat stuff.

This is my next adventure with dogs. I've been playing at canine fitness training and rehab for a couple years now with my dogs and fosters. I've been looking for a program to make it real and add it to my business. This last Sunday, I learned I made it into this program! I am exited! It will be a year of online learning and hands on, then practical cases before I get the certification, but so worth it.

Step 1 Fill out the application form and submit. Step 2 Watch for an email from the CPCFT instructor team. Step 3 If you are accepted to the program, you can now register. Step 4 Start your journey to become a CPCFT on your course start date.
