I know it is early, trust me, I am a Halloween girlie and don’t want to see Christmas Deco out quite yet… BUT!
I want a head start on our annual sponsorship for a Lucky Pup and a deserving Local Veteran.
Please help us find the perfect match, tag your favorite veteran organizations, veterans looking to adopt, etc.
Let’s make someone’s holidays a little bit brighter this season.
*please note all persons wanting to adopt must still pass our application process. The adoption fee is sponsored.*

Still going through our damage, still cutting up trees and still waiting on power….
BUT
I am so happy to report that we got confirmation of the following MAKING IT TO WNC TODAY:
50 bags of dog food
20 bags of cat food
50 bags of livestock feed
50 more cases of water
We are $1800 short of funds raised, I went ahead and put it on my personal credit card because I didn’t have the heart to tell them we didn’t have enough money….
I know we’ll find the funds somehow.
I HAVE TO KEEP MY FAITH.
I have to.
Or that little dark feeling that I know is down there, the one that just takes over if we let it… the one that makes disasters like this feel hopeless… yeah, I can’t let that one win.
I refuse.
So, please, keep sharing.
Keep the faith.
Let’s restore some hope to 💚WNC💚.

I wrote out a longer post in the dark last night but then we have no service to post it so it tried for the past 24 hours and now disappeared. Ah well. Such is this post Hurricane life.
Day 6: no power. We have a generator now! 🙌And we were graciously offered numerous more. No showers, no cell service, no internet. But we are safe and sound. We have no estimate on when we may get power restored either.
Thank you to those who have reached out, offered help and just sent texts to say “hi”. We are basically in a no communication zone other than very brief check ins and seeing our closest family. Still surveying damage and cutting through monster trees.
I cannot offer our community much right now, and for that I am sorry. But if I can help you or your dogs, I will do what I can here.
We did manage to get a generator to an adopter of ours in Western NC who has been sitting in the dark, everything washed away except his tiny home and his dog from us. And today we’re working on 100 cases of water and 1000 of dog food going up to shelter partners. It’s not much, but it’s something.
I’ve seen the best and the worst in people this week. People who give the shirts off their backs to complete strangers, LITERALLY. And then people who have zero clue what it’s like to witness this kind of loss because they are lucky to live in a bubble here.
BE KIND.
That’s all I ask.
People are gone, homes are gone.
I sit and hold my rabbits, whose enclosure was smashed by a 30 ft pine… but they were spared. I sit and cry thinking about the destruction around us. Our family and friends losing everything. Everyone. Gone.
If you can lift a hand and help a neighbor, a coworker, a friend…Please be a helper.
Thank you as always to our amazing community who surrounds us in times of need. I never expected us to be at the receiving end of hurricane assistance. But I am grateful to the few who truly care and who offer assistance in this community we have been honored to be a pa
Me again! 👋
No power, no internet, very spotty service which is at SOS most of the time…
While we are trying to remain positive and cut through all these trees around our house, here’s a little giggle (MUCH needed right now in this stressful time with young children, 11 dogs, 40 chickens, 3 cats and 7 rabbits) of Sanctuary dog Sebastian who is almost 10 years old and decided he would check out this downed tree in our driveway which fell on one of our cars, the supply shed and side of our house (knocked out a garage door).
As we realize how lucky we were that this tree fell just inches from our one year old daughter’s window where she slept, it puts things in true perspective more than ever.
Thank you to those who have reached out to help, donated money for repairs, and to our tiny circle of our closest friends who have offered help. We are grateful. Tired. But oh so thankful that the most important thing, our family, is safe.
We do not have much currently to offer our community, and my heart hurts for our friends in western NC. Our farmers. Our fellow rescuers.
If I can help you, I will.
And I truly beg of you, if you have power, water, chainsaw, gloves, GO HELP A NEIGHBOR.
Always look for the helpers.
Please be safe and take care. ✌🏻
Hey y’all, Elizabeth here VERY quickly while I am out searching for a generator. I still have no power or cellular at my home so I’m not able to access email or anything currently.Currently we are at a NO INTAKE status. We have helped a few groups in Asheville area with supplies and preparation but just were not prepared here whatsoever.I lost multiple fences which are crucial to all of our Sanctuary dogs who are in our care. 2 of which are dog aggressive and cannot be intermingled with others and must be kept separate, 2 who are smaller medical case seniors who can only use a front fenced portion but it is currently mangled and covered in electricity lines and trees. Our puppy/supply shed is damaged, a/c demolished and everything to make the solar panels work is irreparable so must be purchased again. We lost our fridge full of vaccines, meds, and specialty refrigerated food. (Over $2000)We also have multiple other animals here who lost their pasture fencing, but we worked yesterday to rig a temp fence to keep them enclosed and safe.I know this is nothing in comparison to so many, but I just want people to understand that we were hit hard and are not expected to have power back for 10-14 days and I have to put the dogs in our care first so intake is unfortunately closed. We cannot take in any strays, any from shelters, not even for emergency hold, which we usually help with in times like this.We always help out others during their times of need, and now we are the ones asking for help and patience. We appreciate the prayers and people checking on us!We are all safe, we are mostly accounted for, and we are doing the best we can.We took in $5 in the past 3 days. So again, we are STUCK.Please help your neighbors, please help your friends, and most importantly stay safe.If you feel like helping us monetarily, our current needs are for emergency fencing, current vet bills which are over $8000 right now. We are quite literally drowning…. Now in mud. 😔Venmo: luckypup
🆘Here we go again…Another scared dog that we were begged to help has nowhere to go…Ladybird found herself as a stray, then in a terrifying shelter, then in a foster home, then a hopeful adoptive home, and now… she’s coming back.Surely there’s someone out there who is patient and kind and willing to help this little girl understand that the world isn’t as scary as she thinks.Could that be YOU?We DESPERATELY need a foster home for her TODAY.She is being returned to us and right now has nowhere to go. So what does that mean?We cannot take in a single new dog until she’s placed in a foster home. 😔Please help us help her.She NEEDS another confident dog to show her the ropes. She NEEDS a fenced in secure yard to be able to carefully and safely walk and run around. She NEEDS a patient person who is WILLING to put in some work, help her trust, and not just expect a perfect lapdog.🆘 PLEASE HELP US HELP THIS DESERVING SOUL🆘
It’s not Friday without finding a random, mangey puppy in an alley…. Right? 😔
Don’t worry, she’s a Lucky Pup now. 🍀
Atlas Update
Atlas update!
It's not easy watching him struggle to do everyday things our other fosters and personal dogs can do. Small things like going up a three inch step from the back yard to the house...but for Atlas it's a monumental task he is still too weak to accomplish consistently. But look at him....he WANTS to go up that step and we have no doubt of his will and fight to get stronger and conquer all the things that are monumental to him.
Atlas will see our vet on Wednesday for a check up and to get the staples from his wounds removed. He enjoys eating all his meals and the large kennel filled with padding and blankets to support his emaciated frame. He spends his days getting loved, eating good food, and learning how all the dogs in his foster home co-exist.
He's an absolute dream and we are so thrilled with his progress and don't worry, he got a boost up that step and is taking a nap inside 😍
