🙏 A huge thanks to all the guests, vendors, volunteers, pets, staff, Bobby Power Music , and everyone else who came out and made our Spring Festival on the 29th the fantastic day that it was.

😻 We found homes for 14 pets that day!

It's our last day to try and get close to our birthday goal! Let's really try and go out with a bang today! All proceeds go to help each animal in our facility and provide them with all the love and care that they need. Since January we have intaken 555 animals so far this year. That’s a lot of supplies, care, and snuggles!

Happy 67th Birthday to the Humane Society of Greenwood!

To honor 67 years of service, we’re launching a fundraiser to raise $6,700 in support of the work we continue every day. Your donations will go directly toward medical care, food, shelter, and love for the animals who depend on us. Whether you give $6.70, $67, or simply share our story, you’re helping us carry on a mission that began with resilience, bravery, and compassion.

For 67 years, we’ve been a place of hope, healing, and second chances—and it all began with one man’s extraordinary journey.

Our founder, E.L. Caldecott, was born in Great Britain, served in World War I, and later escaped N**i persecution in World War II—fleeing on foot and crossing into safety from Portugal to Spain, where he met his first wife on a bridge during his escape. A man of immense courage and compassion, he went on to settle in Greenwood and turned his heart for survival into a mission of saving animals in need.

Today, we celebrate not only our history, but the countless lives changed—both human and animal—because of that legacy.
