Tribute to Raleigh, who crossed the rainbow bridge recently:
“Raleigh came to DHS in 1994 from Southern Pines, NC. He and his older brother,Rex, were a combined driving team who spent summers in Maine and winters in Southern Pines. They were range bred in Idaho as a part of a Percheron/Morgan Sport Horse Breeding Program. He and Bill Duke competed in many combined driving events. He also competed CT & Dressage, USPC Rallies and shows with Michelle Wood Duncan while with DHS. Rita & Steve Wright purchased him in his later years and he had the best care a horse could ever have. Rita showed him in CT and she and the “DHS ladies” had lots of fun showing and trail riding together.
If you have pictures and stories of Raleigh, please share!
Raleigh was a wise horse who lived well into his late 30’s with lots of love and care from those who were lucky enough to part of his life. He will be missed.
