Hey, fabulous pet parents and their four-legged rockstars!

Guess what? Paws & Claws is gearing up for a spectacular new year, and oh, do we have some updates for you! 🐾✨

First things first – if your pup got a dose of holiday pampering this December, fret not! Pictures are on the way, and I'm stitching together a furry photo gallery that'll have your heart transformed into a puddle at your feet. Stay tuned for the cuteness overload!

Now, let's tackle the elephant in the room – or should I say, the dog in the grooming tub? 🛁 Paws N' Claws Pet Hospital joined our paw-some little town of Gretna, meaning that for the sake of avoiding any further confusion a name change for our salon is on the horizon. Drumroll, please! The big reveal is happening on January 7th – get ready for a name that's as snazzy as a freshly groomed poodle!

But wait, there's more! With change comes paperwork – the necessary evil of adulting, am I right? Starting with the new year, Paws & Claws will be waving its paperwork wand. Brace yourselves for some pre-appointment forms – a dash of intake, a sprinkle of signatures, and a dollop of release forms. It's like a paperwork party, and everyone's invited!

I've been on cloud nine watching this business grow, and the real stars of the show? Your adorable, tail-wagging companions! Building trust, one fluffy friend at a time, has most definitely been the highlight. Exciting times are ahead, where Paws & Claws will truly reflect the love and growth it's been soaking up. Ready for a year full of wagging tails and fabulous transformations? Buckle up, because it's going to be paw-sitively amazing! 🌟🐶

The holidays are quickly approaching and so many dog owners will be looking to have their fur babies groomed before families come into town or boarded before they leave town themselves. With this in mind, please, please, PLEASE be extra cautious with your pups in any setting where they may come into contact with other dogs.

There is a very serious and infectious canine respiratory disease that is quickly spreading and killing our pets. The BEST way to protect your pup is to keep them updated on their vaccinations. In this case, Bordetella, aka kennel cough vaccine, will be your greatest ally for prevention.

In order to protect my own pups and the pups that come to me for their regular grooms, I keep my personal dogs UTD on all necessary and required vaccinations. While I only require a rabies vaccination for all grooming services (per Nebraska Law), I ask that in turn my clients respect the safety of my pups and the pups that will be exposed to the same grooming area by ensuring that their dog be updated on their Bordetella shot before their next groom date. I do disinfect my work space and equipment between each groom, but every little bit of prevention could potentially save a life.

My heart aches for those going into this holiday season with immense grief after unexpectedly losing one of their beloved furry family members. For those areas that have not yet been reached, we can only hope that the urgency of this illness is reduced as more information is learned about it. For mine and my pet parents peace-of-mind as well as the safety of my fur clients, should this disease reach areas that are uncomfortably close to our own, please note that my policies at that time may likely change to also require proof that your pup is up to date on their Bordetella vaccination as well. This will be a requirement if any grooming services are to be provided and just as the requirements are for their rabies vaccinations, I will need to see the expiration date prior to their appointment time. All clients will be notified when booking should there come a time that this new policy goes into effect.

Halloween night you may have been one whose kids stormed the doorways of strangers while demanding candy, professing their love, and falling down just about every porch stair (Please tell me mine weren't the only ones).

You may have joined those who collectively mourned the loss of their fellow parents patience and sanity once held, but from the warmth of your own home. All while barely maintaining your own sanity as you watched the clock inch ever so slowly towards freedom, tossing candy into buckets in the mean time in order to rid your lands of tiny skeletons and wicked witches (Side note: thank you to the house that provided hot cocoa and fireball whiskey to parents... Not all heroes wear capes 🥹).

You may have also been the person to lock the doors and barricade your windows in an effort to survive the whole night in peace and solitude (I envy you).

Regardless of the role you played, Halloween has now passed while taking the month of October with it.. but we can't officially see it off without one final 2023 Howl'oween Pup'date!

If there's one thing that will never change, dogs and fireworks just don't mix. After a long week of sedatives, treats, and pets to keep most of our fur babies just a little more sane, a Pup'date is certainly due.

I will say, I was absolutely ecstatic to be able to try some of my most recent additions to my add-ons. Decorative gems for the finishing touch of those pups that want to shine just a little brighter. 😉 Annie and Brody were definitely ready for their upcoming 4th of July party, I just hope that the cameras were just as ready for their arrival!

Pup'date! As the 4th draws closer, so many babies are getting all cleaned up for the holiday! Some fur babies will be enjoying it with their families 🎉, some will be spending the better part of the night hiding under the bed 😶‍🌫️, and others will be so sedated that they can barely open their eyes! 🥴 However, all of them will look FABULOUS no matter what it is they're doing! 😍

Happy Mother's Day to ALL mothers. ❤️ Those who hold their babies in their hearts, those who hold their babies in their arms, those who desperately try to be able to hold a baby at all. Those who have lost their mothers, those who are step-mother's, those who are tired mother's just trying to get through the day... And so many more.

It's official! My baby girl, Raya, had her first big girl hair cut and I was able to groom my first modified continental! At almost 7 months old, this little poodle stood perfectly still for me in the tub and on the grooming table for almost 3 hours. I've been bathing her and using clippers to touch up her clean face and feet weekly, as well as giving her full grooms monthly. These grooms, however, would last about an hour at most.

I've spent so much time working on her confidence on the grooming table and building her trust in me because my goal is to start using her for creative grooming. It's always been a dream of mine to better myself and reach that level as a groomer, and this 3 hour groom and her immense amount of patience was a huge milestone for us today as a team.

Here are all the pictures I've taken of miss Raya from her 9 week groom, to today. I'm so looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us! ❤️

As my business has grown and kids with their age demand more time, I've found less extra time to make my posts. Major picture update day!

Max came for his usual groom, gentle and calm as always once he's readjusted to a different surrounding. I hold this pup in such a special place in my heart. These Friday's are always ones I look forward too. ❤️

Charlie took Theo's spot on this 'Max and Theo Friday', but that's okay because I had gotten my Theo snuggles in for a nail trim that morning, and Charlie is just as cute and sweet, anyways! Mr. Charlie was amazing this groom, he's always so sweet and still for me, he just usually coughs as well. There was no coughing this time around, hopefully it means he was way less stressed? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Whatever the reason, I'll take the good sign for sure!

I was finally able to meet Quinn, who's sisters I've gotten to groom for awhile now. Quinn has had a profile set up for a little bit, but this was my first meeting with her and she did not disappoint! She was just as sweet and calm (if not more so on this one) as her sisters!

Sophia, Joey, and Bleu joined the pack of pups that came for cleaning up, though that's all we did, really. Just gave them a bit of extra pampering and sent them on their way! The girls had a blast hanging out with me and they were so fun to play with when their baths were all finished! With three pups and lots of crazy though, I completely forgot to get pictures of Sophia!! Next time, baby girl! ❤️

Annie and Brody came for their grooms as well, both perfect babies as usual, though this time mom brought one without the other tagging along. I'll admit, I kind of missed little 10 pound Brody honking the horn at his mama while he waited for her in the car! 😂

Next to be pampered was miss Leila, who was amazing for me while I tried a new look on her face that I felt fit her a little better. I was very happy with how she turned out! Now if only she'd stop chewing on her two toes and giving me a heart attack thinking I'd messed up on her paw. 😬

Last of the babies, but certainly not least loved, were Oliver and Lexi! These cute babies enjoyed their baths and tidy ups. Lexi even received some tlc for her dry winter skin!

The pups keep coming through my door and I keep working my magic! I absolutely love my job!

Benny returned to have a little fluff taken off, and left... Well, still fluffy! This sweet boy is so well brushed out by his mama that I can pretty much do anything for him groomwise. She loves to keep him long and brushes him almost daily to maintain his coat which, as a groomer, I appreciate! He certainly looks so cute!!

Miss Lucy returned for a change in identity. She told me she needed to disappear and go into hiding, I said I could make that happen! 😂 Kidding, but we did try something new! From doodle look to poodle look this sweet standard poodle was really feeling herself by the end of all of her hair loss. Her sass and personality was shining through and I got so many cute pictures of her "awooo"-ing and telling me all the things. A complete personality transformation in under 2 hours. I loved that she gained confidence that fast!

I was given the chance to groom little Joy for the first time, and she sure lived up to her name! This pup was so sweet and patient on the table, but ever ready to see her parents come through the doors! Her gentle and quiet nature in a new place was quickly overtaken by excitement and pure joy with her obvious love for them as soon as they arrived. She was ready to go! This picture of her is literally her looking over my shoulder to see who was here to rescue her! 😂

Siblings Bridget and Scout are a few pups from some close family friends of ours, and I was so excited to get to pamper them finally! I've been waiting for so long!! 😍 They received deshedding treatments complete with nail grinding and teethbrushing, they smelled less like a country dog and more like a margarita by the time they left! Scout had the energy of a pointer, go figure, and certainly kept me on my toes, and Bridget has the sweetest personality of any pitbull mix I've ever met. She literally hated having her picture taken only because I had to keep her at a distance while doing it and she just wanted me to hold her she snuggle her. "Are you done yet? It's been two seconds without being in your personal space and I miss you. I'm so neglected!"

Finally, little miss Sasha joined my pack of clients to feel pretty and pampered, too. This sweet baby took a bit of extra time because she has such a hard time standing still with her age, understandably, and is mostly blind. After some tlc she was feeling much better and probably ready for a really good nap. I'm so excited to continue to work with her and her very loving parents, she deserves to feel safe in an environment she already struggles to understand with her lack of senses. ❤️
