Cantrell Arabians Cantrell Arabians - Performance Show Horses from the Ben Rabba Collection. She absolutely loved gazing at her herd of horses every day.

Jewell Cantrell, a legacy in the Crabbet Arabian horse world, passed away peacefully at her ranch in February 2024. Jewell’s collection of Ben Rabba line performance show horses won many awards over the years; she poured her heart and soul into her passion for breeding Crabbet Arabians. Before she passed, she made arrangements for her renowned breeding program to continue in the hands of her loyal

and great friend, Judy Johnson. Judy, also a neighbor, was introduced to her love of horses by our mother Jewell, like so many others whom she crossed paths with over her many years. Judy will continue the breeding program, retaining the name of Cantrell Arabians, with stallion Honkytonnk Cowboy (Ohadi Indian Fire+/ x Dazzle Me). Honkytonnk, along with mares Rhinestone Cowgirl and Starfire, have joined Judy at her nearby ranch. Her contact information is above. Thank you, Judy, for making Jewell's wish come true and continuing the breeding program she nurtured over her lifetime. Jewell Cantrell produced a number of champion show horses, including stallions Robby (1985-2009) and Ohadi Indian Fire. Robby (a Ben Rabba son) - the number One Sire of Purebred Western Working Horses 2004-2009 and number five All-Time (Arabian Horse World Magazine, published July 2010). Jewell Cantrell followed her mantra of "simply breed horses that you would like to live with and ride yourself.” For more information, visit our website: www.cantrellarabians.com

By Pamela Biery. Many years ago, between appointments and errands, I went by Cantrell Arabians hoping to see the latest foal crop. Standing by the fence with Jewell Cantrell chatting about this and that, I suddenly felt a chill. We were surveying some fifteen to twenty Ben Rabba daughters, granddaug...

We are reaching out to the Cantrell Arabians’ horse family with the below request for support for a dear member. For those of you who ever had the pleasure of sharing a cup of coffee or a piece of pie with Jewell, you would have undoubtedly heard her story of finding a perfect forever home for her horse Chocolatte.

Karrie and Vern came into her life searching for a horse for Karrie, who needed a bright light …a new horse … in what was a very challenging period in her life at the time. Vern and Karrie were over the moon when they brought Chocolatte, lovingly nicknamed Chaco, into their lives. It was a mutual love affair, and thrilled Jewell to no end hearing all the stories of Chaco’s life at their beautiful ranch!

Chaco, through no fault of his own, unfortunately encountered a weak spot on his trail ride, and a sink hole, while on vacation with Vern and Karrie in Pt Reyes. Because of his loving relationship with ‘his people,’ they managed to keep him calm and he was rescued. It is a heartbreaking story to read, and the Cantrell Family is praying for the best possible outcome for Chaco, Vern and Karrie. We urge you to donate and share, please!
