Cain’s Greener Pastures Lessons, Trail rides, clinics, horse training and parties Every student is different. Brand new riders can expect 6 months to a year of private lessons.

LESSON PACKAGES

$175/month for once a week
$275/month for twice a week

Starter lessons are gaining confidence on the ground, strength and basics in the saddle. Trial packages:

3 one hr lessons for $115 per person

3 one and a half hr lessons for $195 per person

Private or semiprivate lessons (1-2 riders):
$215 per month – once a week once hour lessons
$365 per month – twice a week one hour

lessons
$165 per month-once a week half hr lessons
$265 per month-twice a week half hr lessons

All students start out private. Students advance to group lessons at the point the student is a confident rider and saddles independently. The more you ride the quicker you advance. Students learn to properly handle the horse from the ground while grooming and saddling. After riding, students un-saddle before turning the horse out to pasture. Some days, students may experience basic equine first aid, feeding, bathing, cleaning stalls etc. Group lessons (3-8 riders):
$165 per month – once a week one hour lessons
$265 per month – twice a week one hours lessons

Students fully capable of catching their horse, saddling and un-saddling independently, will be given time before and after the lesson hour to do so. Children under the age of 16 will need an adult present to keep eyes on children. You will not need to assist the child. The instructor will be busy with other work during this time, but still wants children to be monitored. Students will benefit from a group setting by feeding off of other students and learning to maneuver around other horses in the riding ring. Students also benefit greatly from a one on one setting with the instructor and less distractions. Equipment: Show students should begin accumulating some tack of their own such as a saddle (approved by your instructor), saddle pad, bridle and bit (approved by your instructor), splint boots, bell boots, grooming tools, hay bag and water bucket for traveling etc. All students should come to every lesson in riding boots. You may borrow a helmet for the first month. TRAIL RIDES:

Stella rode Sassy in her lesson today. I’m very pleased with both of their progress! I see Stella is gaining nice control of her leg (keeping it from swinging and heels staying down) and she’s also keeping light hands with light tension on the reins 👏 keep up the good work Stella! Y’all are coming right along!

This week Tybee got to try Big Moe out. She’s really getting her rhythm down in the posting trot 👏👏

Beautiful day to ride some horses! Then again every day is a good one on the back of these amazing animals!

Jackpot 12/5. Me and Sw***er placed 2nd 2D. Casey and Cloud placed 2nd 4D and Kinley had a little tough luck with a down barrel but we had a blast and got some great photos to share!

Wasn’t satisfied with Sassys first trip to town so we set out on another site seeing adventure today. Looks and feels a lot better. 🙌

Casey made a nice little pass on Moe at open arena today 👏 look forward to seeing him get stronger as he gets legged up.

When your trainer rides your horse it’s a test to see all the things you’ve been doing right and wrong. Sw***er made a couple boo boo runs with Kinley pulling off the first barrel and running back to the start line (alley way) completely missing the rest of their run. He’s also blown wide off the second and third barrel. It’s hard to put a run together under pressure when your nerves are still high so I made a run at a jackpot on Sw***er to give him a confident finished run under pressure. He showed up and showed out winning second in the 2D last night with a 15.8 second time. A 15.2 won the barrel race. So here’s what I felt last night. My student has absolutely been doing something right in her slow work. He’s running straight to his barrels, rating his turns and working a ton in the turn. He was a little strong on the bit and did try to run to the left side of the second barrel where I had to do what no barrel racer should do and pulled the outside rein to get him over. I did NOT expect him to commit to the second barrel like he did at that point. But he came back to my hand despite my sloppy seat and leg back in his hip (my bad) then got a little strong on three but felt my seat and hand and made a decent turn. It takes proper schooling throughout the week to make it all easy in a run and this was not an easy run so there’s some work to be done there; I say that lightly bc there isn’t much. I say all of this to end with, I’m very happy with all that Kinley has marinated on and put into practice. When she gains the strength and muscle memory to make a run with speed, it’s going to be a beautiful match. I’m so glad this family purchased one of my most prized possessions and is doing so well. We have a game plan and I look forward to seeing it all continue to come together. THANKS FOR THE RIDE SW***ER! Your old Mama had fun and still feeling blessed to be a part of the journey.

Took Sassy to her first ”trip to town” to see the sites. She didn’t lope through real pretty but she entered her first covered pen under the lights with no spook and that’s a win for me! Time to haul haul haul this girl so she’ll go to work in other places like she goes to work at home ☺️

When trainers get together and share training ideas 🙌 thanks Sara for sharing this drill with me. Stella and Moe did great in today’s lesson!

Midnight riding again ☺️ Sassy is on or around day 20 of training and around 5 days of actual pattern work. Last night was her best ride yet and she loped a smooth pattern 👏

Been painting a house all day then spent some time with the babies but still made time for sassy training. Peaceful nights like this are the best. Thank God it didn’t rain! 🙌
