Roxy’s story has been all about perfect timing, and that story continues!

Late yesterday evening, someone brought a volunteer with our sister rescue , B.A.R.C Boone Animal Rescue Coalition, a six day old pittie pup begging for help. The mama dog had eaten đŸ˜± the rest of the litter and the pup was the only survivor. It seemed healthy and they wanted to give it a shot at life.

The volunteer immediately thought of Roxy. She had lost one of her own pups and was an amazing mama to the survivors. We sprang into action and got the pup from Marmet to Yawkey in record time.

After a little introduction and coaxing, Roxy welcomed this pup into her brood. She is now mama to 7 again! đŸ„°

*Update, sadly the puppy passed away early this morning. It had been nursing well. It’s likely that something was wrong with it and its siblings, and mama knew, which is why she was eating them. We gave it a chance at life and it was warm and snuggled for its last hours*

Roxy and her babies have made it to their permanent foster home! Safe to say, she’s living the good life now. She’s set up in her own private bathroom and had home cooked food waiting on her. She’s thriving, running around, and SO happy to finally have a warm home. Puppies are all still doing great as well. Thank you to foster mom Helen for loving her and giving her the best!

To give you an idea of just how skinny Roxy is, we are sharing this photo of her. This was taken today on her first trip outside after having her babies.

We are so thankful that someone reached out for help and that we were able to be the people to provide her care. She is the sweetest dog and deserves the world. We plan to give it to her!

So far, we have spent $144.91 on food/supplies and all of that has been covered by donations from people like you! We will still need to pay for further nutrition, her vetting, and an eventual spay. Please keep donating and sharing her posts!

Cute pic included of her 6 (not 7!) chunky puppies. Foster mom miscounted earlier. Easy to do during the chaos of labor and delivery! đŸ€Ł

ROXY IS SAFE!!!!!!!!

Please welcome her into the FOALC crew. She is currently getting what is likely to be her first ever bath and she is LOVING it. Tomorrow, she will go to her long term foster.

Roxy has lived her whole life on a chain and has given birth to multiple litters outside. She is significantly underweight and likely infested with worms. Today marks the start of her new life! She will be able to give birth in a warm, safe place. She’ll receive vet care, vaccines, wormer, and proper nourishment.

We are so thankful for everyone who had a hand in this, especially the two ladies who are doing all the hard work. It truly takes a village and we could not be happier for all the help.

Roxy’s care will not be cheap, especially if she has issues giving birth. Please donate if you can to help us give her the best care possible! She deserves it!

It’s 2025.

Every single county in this state should, at minimum, have resources for animals in case of an emergency. If this were required, dogs like Roxy (see below) would not be facing the dire circumstances being placed upon her.

Unfortunately, shelters are not required by law and until they are, things likely aren’t going to change.

The Legislative session starts on February 12th. Please contact your representatives and urge them to draft/pass a bill that will require EVERY county in this state to provide a resource for animals in case of emergency. Most counties already provide this, so fiscally, it shouldn’t be a financial burden.

Lincoln County has never had ANY resource for animals in need. We are trying to change that, but unfortunately, we are facing many obstacles trying to do so.

Please continue to support us in our efforts. Also, follow the WV Federation of Humane Organizations to support their efforts state wide!

We received a message that this tiny pup is running around between Guyan Valley Middle School and the Wellness Center. Someone tried to catch it, but it ran off. If this is your dog, please go get it before it gets hit on the road! 😱

We’d like to welcome the newest addition to our rescue, little Julian!

He was found by the train track crossing in Julian (hence the name, we’re so clever đŸ€Ł) by some kind CSX workers and ultimately caught by a brave local lady!

Julian is very scared and not trusting of humans yet, so he is not currently up for adoption. We will work with him, show him that humans can be nice, and give him all the love the little guy deserves!

He will be seeing the vet soon for a check up and vaccines, and will eventually be neutered. If you’d like to donate towards his care, hit the donate link below! You can also send via PayPal to [email protected] or mail a check to FOALC, PO Box 24, Griffithsville WV, 25521
