Day 2 of clinic complete and a wrap for 2025! A truly fun and interactive day of learning. All riders had a lesson, a group exercise, and then an opportunity to ride in a “mini” class and then be judged by their peers. Each judge had to explain to Richard, their peers, and the parents what their mindset was on their placings. It put everyone in the hot seat and was very interesting to hear what each saw and how that set up their placings - with throwing in a special spin of public speaking skills!

A huge thank you to Richard for his willingness to adapt to each horse, rider, and push them towards their best potential. ❤️🐴❤️🐴

A truly wonderful Day 1 of clinic with Richard Wright! Lots of activities on the ground that were able to be translated to rides today. And even better was the comraderie and shenanigans! Excited for another jam packed day tomorrow!

We are excited for Christjon to be named as the 2024 UPHA Chapter V Instructor of the Year! It is a rare day that you’ll find Chris not working to learn how to do more, teach to different learning styles, and always be better for his clients and horses. ❤️🐴❤️🐴

The IHSA Youth Committee is excited to promote a Junior Judging Prep Day, to be held at Menagerie Stables on Sunday, April 13th from 10:00 - 2:00. We hope to have Junior Judging competitions held at Springfest, Midstates, and October Classic this year.

This Prep Day will have ice breaking games so all junior equestrians can get to know each other, Saddlebred conformation discussion and judging, a discussion about Junior Judging with Alicia Kritzler (winner of the Junior Judging at World's Championships last year), a teamwork activity to research and present a certain show division, and much more.

Lunch and drinks will be provided to all attendees.
Registration is $75 per junior equestrian to cover materials and food. We hope to have all kids ready and excited to participate in Junior Judging at shows, and form an Iowa Junior Judging team.
Instructors and trainers, all youth are welcome, even if they do not show. Please see the attached form and send to any youth in your barn who are interested!

Maplewood farm in Grimes is looking for a weekend stall cleaner and feeder. Job includes feeding Saturday and Sunday am pm and cleaning stalls Saturday morning
Duties include
Feeding, haying , watering, sweeping and cleaning stalls.

Seven years ago today we opened our doors. We had no lesson students, no training horses, and a humble facility. Today we are blessed with a full lesson program, wonderful clients who have all come up through our program from the ground up, and a farm that we are so proud of. We are nothing without our amazing clients and we cannot say thank you enough. Here’s to another many more seven year anniversaries. ❤️🐴❤️🐴

We are sorry to hear about the passing of Bob Jensen. Since we opened, he was always welcoming and up for a chat when we would see him at shows. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and barn family.

A cold day at the farm so we switched up show lessons today into long lining lessons. A fun time to learn new skills and visually see how what we do in the bridle and with our body effects our horses! ❤️🐴❤️🐴

We wanted to make a little post because so many knew Junior, but he passed away this morning. We are sad in his passing but so grateful for the wonderful years we had with him. We buried him by our wonderful dog, Gus. I am certain Gus is showing him the ropes over the Rainbow Bridge. Junior, Gus, and Sally are going to have one heck of a good time! 🌈🌈🌈

Hours: 7 AM - 4 PM (M-F) 7-2 (Saturday)
Pay: Based on experience
Maplewood Farm, a Saddlebred and hackney pony training facility, is looking for a dedicated Groom/Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
Grooming and daily care of horses
Cleaning stalls and maintaining a clean barn
environment
Assisting with feeding schedules
Preparing tack and equipment for training sessions
Performing general barn duties as needed
Requirements:
Previous horse experience preferred but not required-we're happy to train the right person
Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
Strong work ethic, dependability, and a positive
attitude
Comfortable working with horses and handling a
variety of barn tasks

What a journey this has been for the last few years! Both of the girls started with us as absolute newbies to the saddlebred world. (Libby - I will never let you live down your hunt boots). They both jumped right in and have put in every once of hard work. We have had up, downs, and all arounds. But it has resulted in such amazing moments for us all. The excitement continues for them both into next season. Thank you for continuing your partnership and trust with us. ❤️🐴❤️🐴
