ATTENTION CAT OWNERS

Highly-Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) is affecting cats. Some cases have been fatal. The most common route of infection is consuming unpasteurized and raw or undercooked foods from affected farms. Precautions you can take include:
- Avoid feeding raw or undercooked poultry and dairy products, including raw milk and meat
- Keep cats inside to avoid predation on wild birds
- Keep outdoor cats away from wild birds, poultry, and cattle
- Call your veterinarian right away if your cat is sick.

The FDA is providing pet owners and animal caretakers with information about ways to reduce the risk to their animals of contracting HPAI (H5N1).
