Today shows you that homesteading and having livestock can go two ways.
My pregnant Jacobās sheep ewe sadly got sick while heavily pregnant and did not make it.
Did an emergency c section but nothing else could be done. Lost not only her but two beautiful boys.
This same morning my 16 year old Alpine cross doe had her twins. A healthy boy and girl.
But not everything is lost. This is a post I want to make for homesteaders
If you have livestock that passes on you can still make money back. Post in oddity groups, if you have any goth alternative or spooky friends post about it. Within the hour I found a home for the two boys. While they arenāt alive they have a forever home where they will be cherished for beyond their lifetime. They were loved here. Given a warm bath and held. Their mother and them are going to help fund care for others on the homestead.

Watching the raids happening in Bakersfield in Cali and the fear from immigrants has my heart broken. Knowing that many are cheering this and even saying āWhen will it happen ____ next ā Besides it being racism its a lot of ignorance. As many as you know education is important to me and as a child of immigrants this hit closer to home than you think. So let me tell you some things. Iāll even make it local.
ā¢ Many dairy farmers struggle to recruit and retain native workers despite higher wages and benefits, making immigrant labor an increasingly important part of the dairy workforce. A recent study estimates that immigrants make up over one-half of all dairy workers. Dairy farmers continue to face the same shortage of domestic workers as all of agriculture, but they do not have access to the H-2A farmworker program, which only provides for seasonal labor rather than the year-round workers dairy needs. Dairy farms will not be able to survive, let alone thrive, without a steady, reliable workforce. https://www.nmpf.org/issues/labor-rural-policy/labor-and-immigration-reform-efforts/ #:~:text=Many%20dairy%20farmers%20struggle%20to,communities%20and%20national%20food%20security
ā¢ Farmworker Justice estimates that 70ā80% of farmworkers in the United States are immigrants, with half to three-quarters of them being undocumented. The U.S. Department of Laborās National Agricultural Workers Survey unfortunately excludes livestock and poultry workers. Farmworker Justice estimates that 70 percent of farmworkers are immigrants (about 40 percent of which are undocumented). Within agriculture, crop production employs the most immigrants (59 percent of farm laborers) while approximately 45 percent of livestock workers are foreign-born. Overall, the percentage of foreign-born workers has increased over the past several decades. https://www.farmaid.org/blog/fact-sheet/immigration-and-the-food-system/ #:~:text=This%20phenomenon%20is%20not%20unique,agriculture%20workers%20are%20foreign%20born
UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT MYTHS: TAXES
ā¢ Undocumented immigrants in Virginia pay millions of dollars in taxes each year, including state income taxes, sales and excise taxes, and property taxes. In 2022, they contributed $689.8 million in state and local taxes
ā¢ Virginiaās undocumented population pays an estimated total of between $145 million and $174 million in state income taxes, sales and excise taxes, and property taxes.
ā¢ Undocumented immigrants working āon the booksā pay an additional $114 million to $137 million in Social Security and Medicare taxes. Their employers match this contribution and pay an additional $4 million to $5 million in unemployment insurance taxes on their behalf.
ā¢ Undocumented immigrants who work āon the booksā also pay Social Security and Medicare taxes, although they are incapable of benefiting from these programs until they become legal U.S. residents. Using current tax rates and a 50 percent compliance rate, undocumented workers pay an additional $93 million to $111 million in Social Security taxeshttps://www.thecommonwealthinstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/080200_tax_contributions_undoc_workers_REPORT.pdf
So I really hope those who are āHappy and cheeringā this go grow your own fruits, vegetables, get your own milk, raise your own chickens all out of your pocket. Go outside at all hours, all weather conditions and see how it is.

Last night was wild at the exotic auction sale. We saw this poor girl and while I had my eyes set on the baby ostrich, this girl was right after.
Naming her Krampus. Supposedly she got injured during the ride there. Got supplies ready to clean the wounds, hopefully she wonāt kick us š
She somehow was easier than the emu to get in. Both were really scared though. They will get to see how nice it is though on the homestead. Drac & Frankie can tell them š

For many years since I was a kid Iāve wanted to start a dairy goat farm and now able to. I will be making a variety of products from my goats who make organic goat milk and are spoiled rotten.
This first year has seriously been an interesting one. From Hoof trimming well over 100 goats this year to getting Peacocks and Pheasants. My farm has grown so much and I am VERY excited for the spring when baby season will be here for all the animals.
Besides having a large variety of breeding stock I have added more services I thought were needed in the area. From the goat/sheep hoof trimming to now dog grooming and my mobile petting zoo.
The Latest addition to the farm is the Small Animal Adoption Program. I recently have opened up a portion to help Adopt out small animals like guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, and such. Either I take in animals surrendered to me and help rehome them or will help a family in the right direction to someone rehoming or fostering an animal. When I help rehome animals the only cost(s) The Rehoming fee if I paid( usually only if I saw they were in dire need, the feeding cost ( will include a bag of feed for more than enough time to transition feed, and any medical bills if they are a lot.
I am hoping this way to help animals get a second chance to a lovely home :)
