💩✨ What’s a F***l Float — and Why Do Pets Need One? 🐾

One of the simplest ways to help keep pets healthy is through regular f***l exams. A common method used is called a f***l flotation (or “f***l float”).

🔬 What is it?
A f***l float is a laboratory test that checks a pet’s stool for intestinal parasites, such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, coccidia, and other unwelcome guests.

🐛 Why is it important?
Many parasites are too small to see with the naked eye, but they can cause problems like:
• Diarrhea or vomiting
• Weight loss
• Poor coat condition
• Even health risks to people in the household!

💡 How is it done?
• A small stool sample is mixed with a special solution.
• This solution causes parasite eggs to float to the top.
• The eggs are collected onto a slide and examined under a microscope.
• If parasites are found, treatment can begin right away to prevent bigger issues.

✅ Prevention is key!
Routine f***l tests help catch parasites early and keep pets — and families — safe and healthy.

📞 Have questions about deworming or need to drop off a stool sample? Contact the veterinary clinic for more information.

📌 What is a Fine Needle Aspirate? 🤔🐾

Have you ever noticed a lump or bump on your pet and wondered what it is? One simple and common way to find out is with a fine needle aspirate (FNA)!

🔬 What is it?
A fine needle aspirate is a quick, minimally invasive procedure where a veterinarian uses a small needle and syringe to collect a few cells from a lump, bump, or mass on your pet’s body.

💉 How is it performed?
• The area may be gently cleaned.
• A fine needle (similar to what’s used for a vaccine) is inserted into the lump.
• A small sample of cells is drawn into the syringe.
• The cells are then placed on a slide, stained, and examined under a microscope — or sent to a veterinary pathologist for further evaluation.

🧪 What do we look for?
FNAs help us determine whether a mass is:
✅ Benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous)
✅ An infection, inflammation, cyst, or other tissue type
✅ In need of surgical removal, medical treatment, or simple monitoring

✨ Why is this important?
Early diagnosis means the best possible treatment plan for your pet — and peace of mind for you!

If you ever find a new lump on your furry friend, don’t wait — give us a call. We’re here to help keep your pet happy and healthy! 🐶🐱❤️

Myth Busted: “Indoor Cats Don’t Need Vaccines”

Think your indoor cat doesn’t need vaccines? Think again!

Even if your cat never goes outside, they’re still at risk for certain diseases—and vaccines are essential for their protection. Here’s why:
• We live in Ohio, where rabies vaccination is legally required for all cats and dogs, even if they live strictly indoors.
• Stray and outdoor cats can carry airborne diseases like feline herpesvirus or calicivirus. If your windows are open, your indoor cat could still be exposed.
• Viruses and bacteria can hitch a ride on your shoes, clothing, or visitors—even a quick vet trip without protection can put them at risk.
• Escape happens! Curious cats can slip out through doors or torn screens in a blink.
• Boarding, grooming, or emergencies may require proof of vaccination to ensure everyone’s safety.

Vaccinating your indoor cat isn’t just a precaution—it’s a vital part of responsible pet care.

Not sure if your cat is up to date? Give us a call—we’re happy to help you keep them protected.

Ever Wonder What Happens During a Pet Dental Cleaning?

Dental disease is one of the most common (and most overlooked) health issues in pets. A professional dental cleaning does so much more than freshen breath—it helps prevent pain, infection, and even organ damage.

Here’s what happens during a veterinary dental cleaning:
1. Pre-Anesthetic Exam & Bloodwork: To ensure your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia.
2. Anesthesia: Pets are safely anesthetized so we can thoroughly clean above and below the gumline without stress or discomfort.
3. Scaling & Polishing: We remove plaque and tartar buildup and polish the teeth to prevent future buildup.
4. Full-Mouth Exam & Dental X-rays: These allow us to evaluate the health of the teeth and roots below the gumline.
5. Tooth Removal (if necessary): Any damaged or infected teeth that could cause pain or further issues are carefully extracted to protect your pet’s overall health.

Routine dental care can add years to your pet’s life and help them feel their best.

Questions about dental health or cleanings? Give us a call—we’re happy to help!

Is Your Pet Entering Their Golden Years?

Just like us, pets need a little extra care as they age. Dogs and cats are considered seniors around age 7, and those golden years bring changes in energy, mobility, and health needs.

Here are a few tips to keep your senior pet happy and healthy:
• Regular Vet Visits: Senior pets benefit from wellness exams every 6 months.
• Watch for Subtle Changes: Lethargy, weight loss, or changes in appetite could signal underlying issues.
• Joint Support: Ask us about supplements or medications that support mobility and comfort.
• Dental Care: Oral health can greatly impact overall health—don’t skip dental checkups!
• Comfort Counts: Soft bedding, ramps, and warm spots to rest can make a big difference.

Your loyal companion deserves the best at every stage of life. Call us today to schedule a senior wellness checkup or to talk with our team about how to support your aging pet.

Because every moment counts.
