A healthy diet for dogs and cats depends on their specific nutritional needs, which vary by species, age, and activity level. As obligate carnivores, cats need meat as a main part of their diet. Their diet should include high amounts of protein, moderate amounts of fat, and minimal carbohydrates. Dogs are facultative carnivores, so they can do well on a varied diet that includes meats, grains, vegetables, and grasses. Some good natural ingredients for dogs are beef, chicken, fish, lamb, and some pet friendly vegetables. As they age, pets may have more digestive issues, so its best to feed them less processed foods and more quality ingredients. No pet is the same. We strive to provide the best care for our patients and that entails being available as much as we can as well as allocating enough time for every individual appointment. Unfortunately, we are having multiple scheduled appointments not showing up, which takes up time from other patients. For all future new patients, we will be implementing a deposit to schedule. This non-refundable and non-transferable deposit will be going towards the cost of the appointment. Vaccines are a great way to protect your pet and other pets your furbaby will come in contact with. While some vaccines are optional and up to the owner’s discretion, rabies is required by law. All dogs and cats are required to be vaccinated for rabies. Rabies is a an incurable disease that can be passed from pets to people and is 100% fatal in pets. If you believe your pet has been in contact with an animal that has rabies, there are proper guidelines and precautions you must take to ensure the safety of your pet, yourself, and those surrounding your pet. You and your pet belong together. A microchip is the first step to protecting your pet if they get lost. As small as rice, a microchip is a radio-frequency identification transponder that stores a unique ID number that is used to retrieve the pet owner’s contact information. It is not a GPS. The chip is safely implanted under the loose skin between the shoulder blades of your pet. Ensuring your contact information stays up to date is important in case you and your pet are ever separated. If you find a stray animal, always have the animal checked at your local vet for a microchip so you can assist in reuniting them to their family.

Do you know what to expect at your puppy's vet visits? We first start with weighing your puppy and listening to their heart and lungs. We'll examine their eyes, ears, nose, feet, skin, coat, and mouth. Examining a f***s sample for presence of worms is important since most puppies have roundworms. If your puppy is old enough and weighs enough, we will administer vaccines. Vaccines are given in a series so scheduling follow-up visits are extremely important to ensure your puppy is fully protected and vaccinated until they return for their annual appointment.
