Dear our wonderful clients,
I want to take a minute to address an incident that took place at our salon in May. This post has been made public because I felt that we needed to be the first to inform our community here.
Many of you know me as Alli, and some know me as your pups groomer!
I am a third generation pet groomer, with my mother having more than 37 years of experience. As a child I remember the most magical times I shared were at the dog salon with my furry friends. And as many of you know because you have seen them or met them, I also have two puppy loving children!
In May, a wonderful puppy visited us for its first groom. Just like every day, the puppies played, sniffed around, made friends, licked friendly faces, and found snuggle spots to rest in. Both of my children were with me, as it was summer break. I was scheduled off most days, minus one or two of my regular clients recurring appointments, and this day I only had one so we planned to go see the puppies and then head to the zoo nearby.
When we arrived the puppy was already there, very friendly and loving. My kids sat in their normal spots and drew on their coloring books or watched a cartoon on their tablet. I bathed my dog (not the puppy with the injury) and completed the groom. As I was cleaning and preparing to leave, I called my kids to the front lobby, to which they grabbed their things and headed over. This adorable little puppy was so excited that we were all going to the gate, as she assumed that we would take her with us I’m sure!! But my son wasn’t looking down, so he accidentally stepped on her foot.
The pet parent was contacted, and the puppy was taken to the vet.
I went to the vet the next day to take care of future payments and inquire about the injury.
Since then I have had no contact with the vets office, not by my own choice.
However, she has since recovered from what we do know.
This post is to let all of you guys know that we take responsibility for accidents that occur while in our care. We are not ashamed to say that we, groomers, humans, make mistakes.
We are genuinely sorry for any feelings of distrust that this might create for our clients, and hope that you feel comfortable enough to express your concerns and know that as a business it is very important to us. Also, I want to say that we are implementing new policies and procedures for our business to reflect how seriously we take these issues. We want every one of our clients to know that during the time your puppy spends with us, they are safe, cared for, loved, and prioritized.
I am hoping that you as our clients, who know us, and have for years, will see where our hearts are at, and will continue to support us while we continue to improve our business every day.
Thanks so much for your time.
