Attention Gulfport!

It's that time of year again - Gulfport election season. And while human candidates vie for important elected offices, Gulfport's pets compete for another highly coveted position: **Gulfport's next Pet Mayor!**

After four years of running this highly successful and highly adorable fundraiser, Gulfport Arts & Heritage is now opening the field for the next slate of candidogs, catdidates, and nom-nominees. We hope you will consider entering your pet, and helping us get the word out to other furry, feathery, or finny friends...and, of course, their humans.

Here are the Pet Mayor election basics: any pet who resides in Gulfport may enter the race (there is no fee to do so). Nominations should made by **Saturday, January 18.**

Voting will open shortly thereafter. Then community members in Gulfport and beyond will be able to vote for their favorites for the cost of $1 per vote (we encourage voting early and often!). The election closes on February 20. The pet with the most votes wins the election, and will be inaugurated at a special Wagging-In ceremony at Gulfport Get Rescued on February 22.

All proceeds from the election will benefit Gulfport Arts & Heritage and Friends of Strays Animal Shelter, St. Petersburg's oldest no-kill Read more about their wonderful work here.
