Meet Kallisto! We have been looking into getting a Sumatran Short Tail Python for a while now and when this gorgeous adult female popped up local to us we had to snag her! Definitely a little out of our comfort zone being a decent sized snake eating XXL rats but we are excited to build a relationship with her and possibly start a breeding project in the future!

Sorry for the lack of posting lately! Ive been having a little bit of a rough go when it comes to some of my geckos recently. But i have been working on some cool stuff to start sharing with everyone! The breeding season is kicking off, I’ve been doing some melamine cage builds, and, heres a peek at one of the backgrounds I’ve been working on. 🪨

Heres a Robust Velvet Gecko im growing out, these just had a name change! Now classified as Amalosia robusta. They were previously Nebulifera robusta, and before that they were Oedura robusta.

HUGE thank you to Gambit Geckos for this box full of isopods! Ive been on the fence about diving deeper into isopods and I’m super happy that these guys pushed me over the edge. Definitely check them out!

The velvet geckos aren’t the only thing I picked up yesterday… these are a Texas locality of Eastern Collared Lizards from Highlander Reptiles, fell in love with them at our last expo and had to pick some up. Hopefully more to come and hopefully some babies next season!

We had a busy weekend! Hung out at in SLC, picked up a pair of Oedura monilis from a deal we have been working on, and went to the Utah Pheasant Society auction where we got some artwork. Then to top it all off today my wife got herself a tattoo shes been wanting!

Exciting news! I will be vending at The Wasatch Reptile Expo October 14th and 15th in Salt Lake City! This will be my first show ever and i couldn’t be more excited to see this side of things after attending shows for 12+ years. More info to come!

Pictured is a unique crested produced here last season, and a Bavayia exsuccida. Both most likely heading to the show!

I spent a TON of hours today getting caught up cleaning tubs and cages, and I tried to snap some pictures while i was at it to post over the next few days. First, heres one of my male Nebulifera robusta, the Robust Velvet Gecko. Figured its a good one to start with following the Supreme Gecko YouTube video spotlighting them. Amazing species that i have lots of plans for!

I have a theory that Halmaheras regularly eat chicks in the wild, my female happens to be set up next to my pheasant hatcher for the time being and every time i have a batch hatching and they start chirping shes right there watching day and night. Shes CB but it almost seems like a wired in instinct to catch her attention!

The Yellow Goldens are kicking off the season! Hopefully the other birds will follow soon. 🥚🪺🐣

One gecko that exceeded my expectations! We love them! Halmahera Giant Geckos (Gehyra marginata), sometimes called the “poors mans Leachie” but other than the loose skin and big feet they remind me more of a Chahoua with some Day Gecko similarities! #gehyramarginata #halmaheragecko #geckosofinstagram #geckobreeder #reptilesofinstagram #underappreciated

This is the start of a series on how I’m doing my background builds; STEP 1- look up how others set up their animals and look up photos of their habitat in the wild. Save photos to use as a reference when you start getting into the details! A great resource for this is the @inaturalistorg app as shown!

UPDATE on the bioactive cricket breeding tub. So far so good! We have pinheads! I haven’t really seen any springtails so i think I’m going to have to re-seed it but the smell hasn’t been too awful.

Never had good luck breeding crickets.. so its time to try something new! Bioactive cricket bin! We will see how it goes… dumped in a bunch of Pink Springtails and around 60 adult Banded Crickets. Already seeing females laying eggs!
