Another fun filled day at Grassmere! The goal was to clean out and label everything in the tack room, but it was really just an excuse to get everyone together to enjoy good food and friends! We have the best barn family!!!

Halloween Hay Ride!

We would love if you join us for a hay ride on October 26 @ 530 for the kiddos. Kiddo costumes are encouraged! Nothing crazy, just a little hay ride by the ponies and in the cotton fields. We will have candy for the kids after!

This is going to be a long one… Bear with me.

Today was a big deal.

24 years. 5 states. 11 moves.

We own a home…our first ever home.

Military life never really allowed us to be in a position to buy a house. We essentially moved every two years. It just wasn’t financially responsible.

11 years ago, I bought Alexis 5 riding lessons.
6 years ago two little girls happened upon a beautiful little horse farm and Mr. Clark told them if they helped out they could ride to their hearts content.
5 years ago we took over running the farm full time for Mr. Rod Clark. We now own 3 horses and care for 8 additional beautiful horses. 10 years ago, if you had told me this was where we would be, I would have told you that you were crazy.

I cannot thank Rod and his family enough for trusting us with their legacy and vision of Grassmere Farm.

Shout out, and I mean a big shout out to John McManus. I added John as a friend on facebook 4 years ago. I sat on that contact until 4 months ago. John has held my hand through this entire process. Answering every little question and worry via his personal cell. That type of personal communication DOES NOT happen anymore, and I would not have navigated this without John and his team.

Many thanks to my momma. You push me every day when I am crippled with doubt and worry over big things like this. I wouldn’t have even called John without your insistence. Valerie Masselli

Last big thanks to the guy who has never told me no. Never even doubted me as we happened into becoming farmers. Pretty sure his retirement plan did not include farm chores twice a day, mowing endlessly and loving these animals as much as I do. Byron Higg

Alrighty friends and prayer warriors! Our sweet boarders lost their house to a fire yesterday. Mercifully all are ok! Alexandra is due in 10 days with their baby girl and they have a 1 yo old son, named Warren. They have lost everything including all their preparations for their new baby. If you have any clothes or items to help them, please message me or comment below! I will do my best to coordinate pick up. Alexandra Kupec

Some engineering today!!! We needed a way to get the big sprayer (14 ft wide Tractor) into the pasture. I spent most of the morning using a brief explanation (credit to Byron for the idea/video he found) to concoct a way to be able to make the fence post removable, but still secure.

Ended up sinking a piece of PVC pipe into the hole. Luckily it was the same size as the pole I pulled out. Found a thinner pole and secured everything back up. That’s a really shortened version of the 3 hours it took me… but it’s done!! Grassmere Farm

It was a sad day at Grassmere yesterday. Our oldest resident and favorite thoroughbred was laid to rest. Cyrus was 26 and the bestest boy. We will miss him dearly and send all our hugs and healing thoughts to Cathi Pickering Cox, Deb and family! Y’all are forever part of the Grassmere family!!

The Billies new paddock is almost ready for use. Last week we got the posts in and today we got the fencing up! Honey also got a permanent fence for her paddock. She said we did a good job! 🤪
