Everyone please welcome our new associate veterinarian, Dr. Seth Worthington to our team! He has hit the ground running at the clinic for the last few weeks, so many of you have already had the pleasure of meeting him! Dr. Seth resides in Audubon County with his wife and two sons and is excited to serve our small animal clients in primary care, medicine and surgery. Dr. Seth comes with many years of experience in rural veterinary practice and we are thankful to have him on our team to better serve our clients in this tight-knit community!

On January 1st, our very own Dr. Doug suffered a major heart attack resulting in him being life flighted to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha on the 2nd. Upon arriving there the team of doctors decided his best chance for recovery was to recieve a heart transplant. By nothing short of a miracle, a match was found within two days of of him being placed on the transplant list. On the 10th a heart transplant was performed and he is now beginning the long and challenging recovery. We all know how tough Dr. Doug is and know he will get through this!

This was definitely not how Dr. Doug and Dr. Donna would have ever guessed their 2025 would begin. From starting this practice in their garage over 25 years ago to now having a son and daughter-in-law taking it over, they have seen it all. We are truly blessed that Doug is still with us and are wishing him the best recovery so that he can enjoy his time with his family and grandkids.

If anyone has any Dr. Doug or Donna stories they would like to share or leave in a card, that would be a fun way to help them pass the time in these next months as Doug is recovering. At this time cards can be left at the clinic and we will get them too him.

Please be patient as we work through being understaffed at the current time. There will be many new faces in the clinic as we get some relief veterinarians in to help us see appointments and ultimately we hope to find the right veterinarian to join our team.

We appreciate your business and patience, and look forward to continuing to provide you with quality veterinary medicine at GCVS in 2025!

Dr. Ashley joined us last week as a part time relief veterinarian while Dr. Abby is out of the office. Dr. Ashley graduated from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 and has practiced all over the United States, including the Carribean, providing relief veterinary work for practices that need an extra hand for a short period of time. She has a broad range of experience with both large and small animals. We are so thankful that she has joined our team for the next few months, so that we can continue to see your pets in a timely manner. Say hello to Dr. Ashley if you see her around!

Update: Zip has been found. Thank you to everyone who shared the post! It is much appreciated. Our son would have been lost without him.

Dr. Will and Abby are looking for their dog Zip, a male border collie. He fearfully ran away from the sound of fireworks coming from the county fair. He is very nice and will come to his name. Please don't chase him. If anyone sees him or catches him, please call the clinic's emergency line.
