The little things are the big things.
It’s easy to get caught up in all the things: a nice house, fancy car, designer clothes, exotic vacations, but really, that’s for other people.
My husband works really hard to help our family achieve or dreams and at the core of what those dreams are, it’s time together. It’s the ability to be fully present. It’s to give our kids opportunities and meaningful experiences. It’s why we bought the farm. It’s why he has missed more holidays, birthdays, and school milestones than he’s been home for.
In some ways we are super fortunate, we’ll have more than 18 years with our kids. They’ll always need us but that’s also the scary part. We won’t always be here. So with the farm we hope to give them a meaningful life and allow for them to gain life stills in a safe place doing things they love.
So for us, it’s the quiet nights sitting around a fire, eating a s’more, listening to our favorite music and just enjoying each other.

Real Luxuries are free👇🏼
We are constantly being sold something. There is always that next thing that if we get it is going to make everything better, our lives easier, basically make us happy. And where yes may things do make our lives easier and some do bring a degree of happiness (hello plant babies and tacos!) when we talk about things that are luxuries, I think things have shifted.
The real luxuries in life are slowing down the whole financial independence movement is about building wealth so you can have a say on how you spend your days. So I like to think that the real everyday luxuries are all the little things that life is keeping us from enjoying.
We don’t have to be millionaires to enjoy a good cup of coffee in our favorite cozy chair. We don’t have to spend a ton of money watch a beautiful sunrise.
I carve out the time be really be present with my family and friends and prioritize that because I know it’s not promised.
This is one of the biggest reason I grow flowers. I have to slow down to enjoy them. It’s a mindset shift. It’s why I encourage people to start their own gardens. I want to share the joy and gift they are with as many people as possible because of what they represent.
