Veterinary technicians are indeed the heart and soul of every animal hospital. They are indispensable to a veterinary practice because they play a crucial role in the everyday care of animals, assisting veterinarians with procedures, educating pet owners, and providing compassionate support. They essentially act as the "backbone" of the clinic, making them a critical part of the team and deserving of recognition during Vet Tech Week. Their work often goes beyond technical tasks and includes offering emotional support for both animals and their owners. Please be kind; a simple thank you to our nurses goes a long way.

As a friendly reminder, please note that the office will be closed on the 4th of July in observance of the holiday. Additionally, as we enter the summer season, it’s important to ensure the well-being of our furry friends. Here are some tips to help keep them safe and healthy during this time:

1. Fireworks Safety: When fireworks go off, bring your pets indoors and create a calming environment with soothing white noise. Ensure your pets wear collars with updated ID tags and microchip information. Please provide them with entertaining treats and toys to help distract them from the loud noises. Never give your pets human medications for anxiety.

2. Heat Safety: Keep your pets cool and well-hydrated during hot weather by providing plenty of water and shade. Avoid vigorous exercise during extreme heat conditions. If your pet will be around water, consider using a life jacket and be mindful of potential hazards, such as blue-green algae.

3. BBQ Safety: Be cautious around hot grills during BBQs and ensure that hazardous foods like corn on the cob and meat bones are kept out of reach of pets. Remind guests to keep toxic foods and alcohol away from pets and secure the trash to prevent access by curious animals.

4. Anxiety Relief: If your pet requires anxiety relief, consult your veterinarian for the correct prescription and dosage.

Let's work together to ensure the well-being and safety of our furry companions throughout the summer season.

Here at Meadowlands, we know how crucial it is for your furry friend to feel emotionally secure during their visit. Sometimes, a simple treat isn't sufficient to keep them distracted. That's why our dedicated veterinarian, Dr. Verghese, always goes above and beyond to make sure every patient feels at ease by providing a comforting toy.
