Rehoming two EE roosters and a Golden Laced Wyandotte rooster. All are a little over three months old and have been raised together. I have too many roosters and really need them rehomed. I took these in weeks ago thinking they were hens.

Looking for good homes for the following four roosters. Two are EEs and two are Silkies, one is a Satin Silkie. All are about three months. The Silkies are very docile and sweet. The EEs are flighty. I have only had them several weeks. I took them in thinking they were pullets.

I have had some people asking about eggs for sale. I do not really sell my eggs anymore because the price would be pretty high to offset the cost of feed ans the upkeep of the chickens. My chickens go to the vet, are dewormed regularly, fed feed that costs $34 a bag, coop repair costs, etc all add up. People balk at the price of my eggs now if I were to sell them. The chickens are a hobby and are pets more than anything. I have been keeping chickens 15 years and the cost of keeping chickens healthy and comfortable has never been this expensive.

This is my 10 year old Millie d’uccle hen. I suspect she might be older but she was given to me many years ago by a friend.

Every time the weather gets cold everyone panics about should they put heat in their coops. My answer for Georgia residents: NO.

As long as your chickens are not sick, are of the proper weight, and are not old. I bring any underweight, sick, and/or old birds inside. As long as their coop is draft free and they have proper roosts, NOT poles or sticks, they should be fine. Proper roosts include 2 x 4s laid on their wide sides so the chicken can rest comfortably and completely cover their feet with their feathers. Heavier breeds benefit greatly from wider roosts.
