New Chip Reader To Help Haddonfield Residents Find Pets
Haddonfield police have purchased a pet microchip reader, the police department announced.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Haddonfield police have purchased a pet microchip reader in order to help residents find their lost pets, the police department announced. Pets must be registered with the borough for the system to work, police advised.

"This device reads a variety of manufacturer's pet microchips, and with one phone call, we can reunite a lost pet with their owner," Haddonfield police said in a social media post. "As an owner of a pet with a microchip, you must verify with your company that they have your current information registered to it (name, address, phone number, etc). If your current information is not associated with your pet's microchip, then officers will not be able to contact you when we find your pet."

Haddonfield residents must have their pets registered with the borough in order for the system to work, police said. They must also have updated contact information with their microchip company. For information on how to register your pet, visit haddonfieldnj.org.
