Congratulations to Maddie and Avni on a great outing to the coexist.stables snowflake series show yesterday to kick off our winter show season and the restart of the BDH show team! As the girls said, “we didn’t ride as well as we do athome but we met our goals” and I couldn’t be prouder of that thinking! It only gets better from here!

Congratulations to Avni and Pixie on a fantastic first show at Blue Ridge Riding Club today! They came away with a clean sweep in the short stirrup division and 1,4,5 in the W/T division. Riley and Pixie also earned at 6th in leadline! This was a great outing and we can’t wait to attend more of their schooling shows with more students!

And most recently was our trip to State Fair! It was a hot and busy weekend and also the first time these girls competed in WTC classes. They had so many personal accomplishments and the best was seeing them set goals for their horses and being proud of their horses for performing to the best of their abilities and giving them grace and understanding when there were mistakes.

Madeleine & Blossom- Grand Champion Jr Showmanship, Reserve Champion Jr Pleasure Equitation, 5, 6, 10 in the Jr/pony pleasure classes

Monica & Miss Kitty- 4, 6, 6, 10 in very large intermediate/horse pleasure classes of up to 18

Chloe & Ruby- 5, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 8 in the intermediate western show. The proudest achievement was the 7th place ribbons that matched their ensemble 😆

Have you met the newest member of the crew? Say hello to Kermit the Frog! After some rnr, he has hit the lesson program and is a fan favorite! This sweet boy is skilled and forgiving under saddle (once you actually get him moving 😆) and a total sweetie in the barn. Thank you to The Farm at Coco's Corner for letting us borrow him!

I am heartbroken to share that Mr Wish passed away yesterday. Wish was approximately 26 years old and spent the end of it being loved by everyone who met him. Wish joined BD Horsemanship on December 15, 2021. By the next day he was being ridden by students and took everything in stride. He was the definition of perfection and anyone could ride him up until his body started to show his age and he was ready for an easier life. He joined Franklin County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center in September 2022 where he was loved by everyone who met him and the definition of perfection. He helped many disabled riders conquer their fears and reach new milestones. He was truly one of a kind and will always be My Sweet Prince.

I have pieces of tail for anyone who would like them. Please also send any photos of Wish to go into a collage in his honor.

I am so thankful to Franklin County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center for giving him a soft landing when it was time to retire and taking such great care of him. I know he was loved by so many staff, students, and volunteers. Since Wish was part of the therapeutic riding program, the bills fall on them. Vet bills are never cheap and non-profit centers like them rely on donations to help cover them. If you would like to do something to support Wish/myself, please consider making a donation to them in his honor.
