-Keep your pet hydrated
-Ensure your pet has ventilation and a cool environment
-Dogs with short noses are at higher risk due to their condensed facial anatomy and restricted ability to cool themselves
-If any signs of heat stroke appear, contact our team immediately.

Did you know that less than 10% of the pets that are unchipped will return home each year?

A microchip is a secure, reliable, permanent identification for your pet and the process is simple and affordable. Microchipping your pet can help ensure that if your pet goes missing, they can be identified and find their way back to you.

If your pet is chipped, make sure their information is up to date. To help keep pets close to their loved ones, share this post and remind your friends to !

Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.

Our final Receptionist shout out goes to our hardest working Receptionist Jasper!!
Jasper Joined the LAH team in 2017. Jasper can often be seen greeting clients in both waiting rooms, but he prefers the cat room. He is known for his compassionate nature while visiting patients in the exam rooms, and consoling the patients and their humans during their stressful exams. While he can be seen napping during the day we guarantee that he is in fact the hardest working employee of LAH, it just takes a lot out of you to look that cute all day long.
Thank you Jasper for making our days so enjoyable. We all love you!! 🥰 ❤️

Todays Receptionist highlight goes to Hayley Widmyer.

Hayley has been with LAH since January 2024, but has been in the Veterinary field for 8 years. Her hobbies include fishing and anything related to the water. She currently resides in Waynesboro, PA with her boyfriend and cat, Miami. She loves working with and helping pets because she knows animals are like children to everyone. She feels that “We are our pets voice, and its up to us to advocate for them in all ways possible”

Hayley has become a valuable addition to our LAH team. Thank you Hayley.

Todays Receptionist shout out goes to... Lexi Chilcoat
Lexi had worked with Longmeadow previously in 2021 as a Kennel Technician and returned to LAH in 2023 as a Client Service Representative. Lexi is a 2020 Graduate of Smithsburg High School, and 2023 Graduate of HCC for Certified Nursing Assistant. Lexi has always had a love of animals, and currently lives with her pup Finley (Finn) and has her horse a OTTB Private Pilot.

Lexi always has a smile on her face and loves to go out and greet our furry friends when they come in. Thank you Lexi!

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.

Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.

Todays Receptionist Week highlight goes to... Tammy Ekins.
Tammy joined the Longmeadow Team in August of 2023. In just that short time Tammy has moved from Client Service Rep to Client Service Supervisor. After being out of Veterinary Medicine for over 20 years to raise her family, she has decided to come back due to her extreme love of animals. In her spare time she enjoys drawing, reading and watching movies. She enjoys all of this with her Husband, twins, and 10 pets.

Tammy is a valuable addition to our LAH team! Thank you Tammy!🐸❤️

Todays Receptionist highlight is... Jade Parsons.
Jade has been with LAH since 2019. She started with us as a Kennel Tech and has worked her way up to Receptionist/Vet Assistant. Jade is a proud momma to her daughter and two fur babies Baby Girl and Chico. Ever since a little girl Jade knew she wanted to work in the Veterinary field and be surrounded by animals.

Thank you Jade for all you do everyday for LAH. You never fail to make us laugh with your shenanigans 🤪🥸
