Happy giving Tuesday! We are a small sanctuary trying to do right by the horses in our care. This year we have taken in several in need of extra tlc. From extremely skinny to surprise pregnancies we've had it all this year.
As little as $5 feeds a horse for a day!
Our newest intakes Bowie and Grim are on our refeeding program. We are hoping to get weight on them before winter is in full force. These boys are eating 16 qts of senior grain mash a day in addition to free choice hay.

Poor Mr Moose came in last week with what looked like an abcess. We poulticed him and started pain medication and some antibiotics. However with the intense heat this became a serious issue really quickly. Luckily the amazing team at Cleary Lake Equine Veterinarian Hospital were able to get him in.
Not only did Moose have an abcess but he's foundered on all 4 feet. He spent the weekend at the clinic getting his pain and inflammation under control. He was able to come home today and is on strict stall rest for the next 2 weeks.
Moose is a surrender who we were able to take in last March. He had been abandoned at a boarding facility with cloud boots on. They had been on continuously for at least 6 months. We knew taking him that his feet would be a possible issue as his hooves hadn't been able to grow normally for the time he had the boots on.
Moose does have some good news as we were able to get x-rays and see that he had very little rotation to his bones in his feet! This gives him a great prognosis for recovery. And while he might not be rideable he will be pasture sound!
