Meet Hank! He’s a 6 month old chronic jumper, play-biter, counter surfer and opportunistic spitfire with boundless energy. His mom called us in hopes that we could help redirect some of these unwanted behaviors before he gets too big.

Sometimes, the most amazing part of our jobs is having the filter to see past some of these silly behaviors, right through to the incredible dog inside. Hank can be a lot to handle based on his size alone - he is a BIG, strong boy! But that brain… THAT BRAIN… is a special one! We spent some time showing him that jumping isn’t going to work anymore to get attention - but that SITTING works every single time. We talked about boundaries at home, and how to set him up for success in their daily lives. Dogs naturally feed off of our energy, so as soon as we started to get more enthusiastic with him, he lost his mind and got stuck in a loop of zoomies. So we reset, and switched to a play lesson.

Structured play is wonderful way to engage with your dog playfully, while also reinforcing clear boundaries. This guy caught on instantly to our training games, and we had him practicing patience, impulse control and spacial awareness in just minutes - we got to see a different version of him just then. Pet owners don’t always appreciate energy and drive the way dog sport enthusiasts do 🙃, but as we worked together, mom started to see just how amazing that boundless energy can be when we learn how to appropriately filter it into behaviors we desire.

This guy’s mom has always had dogs, but he is the first she’s raising on her own, and she was feeling a bit unsure of how to shape some better manners. We are SO glad that she decided to give us a call so we can help guide them into a life they both get to enjoy together. It was exciting to find out that Hank’s mom is curious about getting him into some sports later on. This dog has potential to be an incredible teammate, and I can see them really enjoying some sports together. Next step is getting him acclimated to a group class setting, and getting some solid foundation training in place. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of these two, and we cannot wait to see where they take it from here!! Thanks for choosing us to help!!

Just LOOK at those sweet, soulful eyes! Certainly not the eyes of a reactive dog… right?! Miss Penny, who used to be the life of the (dog) party, has recently started to be a little more opinionated when it comes to other dogs - especially energetic dogs. Her family brought her in for a private lesson to discuss why the sudden change… turns out that maybe it wasn’t entirely sudden after all…

Penny has had a lot of wonderful foundation training - she took several classes with us early on, and her family has worked diligently with her these past few years. They take her everywhere with them, and she’s always done great in public settings. Because Penny has been so well behaved while out on adventures, they’ve started to become more relaxed (and less consistent) with reinforcing the desirable behaviors they worked so hard to shape. Penny is four now, and while it’s fair for her to be a little less interested in playing with energetic puppies/adolescents, it turns out that she’s had a few “surprise visits” while out on walks, where dogs came up behind her, and she didn’t like that. Naturally, Penny’s family then starts to get a little nervous in certain settings - which Penny is likely feeling through the tension in the leash, and ultimately, becoming more nervous herself. These experiences seem to have rattled her confidence and “shortened her fuse” a bit, and she’s quicker to react than she once was. The great news is that her family now has a better understanding of Penny’s perspective, and will undoubtedly be more conscious of advocating for their dog and protecting her personal space.

Penny is a WONDERFUL dog with a beautiful disposition, and has had tons of positive socialization. She’s not “becoming aggressive”, but rather a little bit misunderstood. They left with a new understanding of their dog, and a few new training tools in their tool belts. We look forward to updates from her family in the very near future. Thank you for choosing us to help!!

Puppy class is possibly the MOST important class you could take with a dog! Why?
….because young puppies (under 16wks) are more accepting of new and different things! This is the ideal opportunity to expose them (in a positive way) to many new sounds, surfaces, people, animals and things that you’ll want them to be comfortable around as adults. It’s also the ideal time to start building a bond and laying the foundation for good manners.

As trainers, we even take our own puppies thru puppy classes just for the EXPOSURE alone. It’s THAT important.

With a little bit of teamwork we can improve the quality of your walks in only four weeks. This class will focus on loose leash walking, teaching your dog to turn with you, to “leave it,” to halt with you, wait at doorways instead of barging past, and so much more!
