To all of our colleagues and clients:
It has taken me some time to find the words to make this post. The tragedy in NC (and along the entire east coast) is near and dear to my heart. With friends and family stranded, homeless, and with total losses of home and business, it is devastating the amount of destruction that they will face heading into winter. We have received word that there is now a passable route into Spruce Pine; and we will be organizing a supply run to NC, both for veterinary and standard supplies. We will be making these frequently over the next few months, and appreciate any support that you can give.
If any clinics would like to donate, they are in desperate need of medication (especially NSAIDs and antibiotics), vaccines, flea and tick meds, bandaging materials, syringes, IV fluids and lines, and other dry goods. I’m happy to arrange pickup and send a staff member or volunteer to get the donation. Donations will be taken to Mitchell County Animal Shelter, Mitchell Veterinary Hospital, and Stewart’s Mountain View Vet Hospital.
If any of our clients would like to donate, any and all supplies, especially food, water, diapers (baby and adult), formula, dog and cat food, equine supplies, etc. are welcome. We will fill the truck and trailer, and will be making several trips over the next few months. The need will not end soon. Donations will be distributed though a central distribution spot at the Baptist church in Spruce Pine, which is open 24 hours to anyone who needs assistance, and animal Supplies through Mitchell County Animal Shelter.
Donations are welcome to be dropped off at either office (Rt 50 Vet at 41 Lindsey Dr, Fayetteville OH, or Complementary Vet Care, 3927 US 50, Fayetteville OH). If any of my NKY barns are willing to be a central drop off point for Kentucky folks, please let me know. I will arrange pickup from there. Venmo donations can also be made (-Erbe-DVM), and I am happy to provide receipts for proof of purchases.
Thank you for your help and support, and your flexibility with scheduling as we adjust to respond to this disaster.
