My litters are raised using the Puppy Culture program, and one of the elements of this is manding. Manding is essentially teaching the puppy the concept that they can ask for things they want, by offering a behavior. In this case it's sit. When the puppies want something, they can sit and offer eye contact, and we reward them with a treat or attention. Manding is the first baby steps of teaching the puppies that working with people, offering behaviors and learning games in general are fun!
