Board update! šŸ„³šŸ„³šŸ„³

Weā€™re nearly a third of the way there!!

Letā€™s continue working together to fill this board! As yall know, the horses never stop eating, so the bills for feed and hay never stop and we canā€™t provide them with what they need without you. ā¤ļø

Our rescue is nothing without our supporters as the back bone, and like so many other rescues, we will have to close doors for good and our mission will be no longer if we canā€™t garner support to care for the horses that were saved by our supporters and their generosity.

Iā€™ll continue to pour in the blood, sweat and tears when it comes to caring for them, Iā€™m only asking you to donate the cost of a three string bale, or a bag of feed, or even your spare change.

$1, $5, $20, $100, it all adds upā€¦any amount you can donate and to share our post so that someone on your friends list may see that we need help and be able to offer that help.

Please donate if you can and please share. Weā€™ve brought in less than $3000 in the last 30 days. Thatā€™s not enough for even one month worth of feed and hay for the rescues. We spent $1500 on alfalfa yesterday and have another $1250 to spend on round bales this week as well as $500 on a pallet of 12% feed and $500 (15 bags) on senior feed. Iā€™m pleading at this point. We have 5-6 rescues leaving to another rescue this week as well because we cannot sustain the herd on the little donations we have brought in the last six months and weā€™re getting to the scary breaking point.

Went outside to my personal horses barn this morning to find that my sweet Lena girl (purple jacket), was being very considerate and letting Boone share her stall with her.

Sheā€™s such a thoughtful girl šŸ¤£

Iā€™m just glad all of my horses but two love each other and will share stalls without trying to kill each otherā€¦ had my personal mare and first rescue ever (12 yrs ago) opened her gate and one of them try to share her stall with her, Iā€™d have been down one horse this morning šŸ¤£

But the rest are all besties.

And this winter storm has made a turn for the worst- itā€™s not snow- itā€™s all rain. Not cold enough for sleet or snow- itā€™s POURING. And it will freeze tonight. This has turned into a dangerous situation for the horses since I got back at lunch time. Keep everyone riding this out in your thoughts and prayers.

If we can raise that much or more everyday from now until Sunday, we will have enough to cover the alfalfa and round bales. Thank you everyone whose pitching in to help keep our mission alive.

Riding horses is in the blood. It is a passion we are born with. No one can really understand this passion but other horse people. Even when life events temporarily take us away from riding, the passion is still there. And, when we can, we will get back in with horses again. Im not sure who this little girl is in the photo, but she lives inside all of us. The love of a large animal... the power we feel under the saddle, the wind in our hair, the adventure in our spirit! This passion is a gift from God.

To Our Southern Twang Family,

Iā€™m going to be blunt because the stakes are too high to sugarcoat the truth, and humans as a whole need to start stepping up and quit depending on ā€œthe next guy.ā€ Because the next guy is depending on you or the person after him and then NOTHING gets done.

Hereā€™s the thing:
Humans have a tendency to assume someone else will step up and avoid any extra step if itā€™s inconvenient for us because a ton of us humans are VERY selfish when it comes to our time or going out of our way.

Donā€™t know what I mean? Hereā€™s some examplesā€¦ HOW MANY OF US HAVEā€¦

ā–ŖļøWalked right past a stray dog or cat, thinking the next person will stop and help it.

ā–ŖļøWe walk right passed trash on the sidewalk and think, ā€œsomeone else will grab it, not my job.ā€

ā–ŖļøWhen we pass a car pulled over with its hazard lights on, we donā€™t stop to check if they need help because itā€™s ā€œprobably already handled.ā€

ā–ŖļøWe avoid sorting recyclables or using reusable bags, assuming ā€œone person wonā€™t make a differenceā€ or others are doing it enough to compensate.

ā–ŖļøWe ignore the bell ringer at Walmart because itā€™s inconvenient or we think ā€œmy .25 cents wonā€™t make a difference.ā€

But hereā€™s the truthā€”ANY AMOUNT **does** matter. If everyone reading this gave just $5 today, we could pay for an entire monthā€™s worth of feed, hay, farrier appointments and medical supplies without batting an eye.

This mindset is so deeply ingrained in many of us because itā€™s easier to hope that someone else will handle it than to pause and take action. But the hard truth is: if everyone waits for someone else, nothing happens.

The hard reality is that rescues and nonprofits like ours are closing their doors every day because of apathy and convenience. If things donā€™t change, weā€™ll be next. These horses donā€™t deserve thatā€”not after everything theyā€™ve endured, not after they finally found safety and hope.

If this were a fake kill pen post screaming āŒāŒāŒ*ā€œShips to slaughter tomorrow! Bail to save 25 horses is $4,000!ā€* āŒāŒāŒ would everyone care more? Because hereā€™s the truth: if we donā€™t meet our needs, those same horses will be right back in harmā€™s way when weā€™re gone.

If you care about these horsesā€”if you were moved when you witnessed us save Trout, KC, Gramps, or Badgerā€”itā€™s time to step up. Because without action, words and good intentions wonā€™t keep these horses fed or safe.

We know this isnā€™t easy to hear, but itā€™s the truth. If everyone reading this gave just $5ā€”just the cost of skipping one coffee or fast food stopā€”we could give these horses the life they deserve.

If you want to help, do it now. Click the link, send $5, and share this post.

āŒāŒāŒDonā€™t assume someone else willā€”**be the person who steps up today.**
