Hey Friends,
We understand the frustration of being told that DDC can’t add any more daycare dogs and that our grooming client list is full (& won’t open up anytime soon), then a last minute boarding request comes in and we reply that we’re at capacity. But we respectfully ask that you look at the bigger picture of our community before making complaints.
Since 2021 the housing market especially for renters has made it nearly impossible for middle and low income citizens to stay in our valley. We’ve watched a multitude of our friends, family members, and colleagues move away from Hamilton and Montana because they can’t afford to live and work here anymore. The struggle is real.
We would love to expand and hire more employees so that we could provide all of the needed services for our pet community, but there’s a fine line between keeping our rates reasonable or hiring more employees (at $20/hr just so that they can barely make a rent payment) or adding another leasing cost. We’re sure none of you want to see us charge $75/dog for overnight boarding or $50/day for daycare because that’s what the numbers show we’d have to do.
So please, be kind to us and other pet care providers. When we raise rates it’s because we have to to stay open, and when we can’t oblige the requests for care it’s because we literally can’t. We’re doing the very MOST and best that we can, and we’re fairly sure it’s pretty good considering the usual love and support that we get from you.
Let’s continue to strive to make Hamilton and the Bitterroot Valley a place for all including those who might need a leg up or a helping hand, and especially those of us who are working ours buns off in service industry jobs just to make ends meet, because it’s tough out here.
Lastly, let’s acknowledge those of us who are spending $750/month to rent a **bedroom**, or who work two full time jobs and live out of a tent or vehicle. Show some compassion for our fellow humans, life can be hard and a soft voice or a kind reply means EVERYTHING.
Much Love & Appreciation,
Melissa

In the event of a complete power shut off Daly Dog Care will close. All daycare dogs will need to be immediately picked up and our Loss of Power Plan will take effect for boarding dogs. Let’s all hope it doesn’t come to any of that.
UPDATE 7/24: There are no Public Safety Power Shutoffs planned at this time. Based on assessment of the forecasted conditions, we are confident that a Public Safety Power Shutoff is not imminent for any of our Montana customers at this time. As we do throughout the fire season, we will continue to monitor, analyze and assess wildfire conditions.
Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) are an important new defense that has been added to our wildfire mitigation efforts. It is important to know that it is a “defense of last resort”. PSPS is the defense that will be employed when conditions are expected to be so severe, that all other defenses are deemed insufficient.
We want to thank our customers for their attention and response. We understand no one wants to be without power. Our top priority is to keep our customers and communities safe.

UPDATE 7/23: Due to extreme weather conditions, NorthWestern is monitoring weather forecasts in Montana. At this time, we are closely watching weather forecasts calling for high winds combined with high temperatures and low humidity forecasted for Thursday afternoon, July 25.
We have entered the 1.1 Monitoring Stage of our Public Safety Power Shutoff Plan. There are no planned power outages at this time. This is the earliest stage of the plan. If extreme weather conditions threaten our ability to safely operate the electrical grid, we will turn off power to help protect public safety. This is called a Public Safety Power Shutoff, or PSPS. At this time, NorthWestern Energy will closely monitor the weather forecast. If a customer’s power is going to be shut off, we will contact you directly via email and/or phone at the email address or phone number we have on file. We continue to watch the forecasted wind event. If a planned power outage is needed for public safety, it is most likely in wildfire-prone areas outside Butte, Helena, Great Falls or Bozeman.
As more detailed information becomes available, we will share it. Learn more at NorthWesternEnergy.com/PSPS.

1/3 shares today for Winston’s big reveal! (This is a NO-FAULT groom btw. Owners take VERY GOOD CARE of their boy; but he just had a neuter, had a shift in his routine, and discovered the local culvert in a matter of weeks. Even the slightest change to the brushing/grooming routine of a doodle can create matting especially on those who have tri-type coats (all three: straight, wavy, & curly).
A little chickadee enjoyed our live plants for a bit yesterday! (We didn’t let it stay too long though 😉) #allthecreatures #birdsofmontana #springguest

If you’re traveling south of Hamilton this blizzardy evening be aware there’s a huge herd of elk just biding their time to cross Hwy 93, waiting east of the Blood Lane Conoco 🦌 🛣️ ⚠️ #safetyfirst #safecrossing #wildanimals #slowdown
Cossack the husky girl is here from the @bitterroothumane for an Adventure Day! You can see her bright young eyes and energetic style, plus a penchant for sticking her legs in the big drinking buckets 🪣 She took a turn to play with all of todays bigger boys and girls including a giant schnauzer, a heeler mix, a huge bull mastiff, and a mini schnauzer puppy (good with all!). She responds well to her name, and seems eager to please both her newfound dog friends and the humans in her charge. Just take a look at the video of her playing with Mattie (a BRHA alumni) to see that this gorgeous girl could be your newest furry family member🥰 #Adopt Cossack from our local shelter by visiting her temporary home at 272 Fairgrounds Rd., Hamilton, MT, or by calling (406) 363-5311 #huskyforadoption #goodgirl #playfulpup
