So exciting to see Robin and Burndale Ben winning their Reserve Championship at this years Calgary Stampede! We are so blessed to have a great litter sired by Ben. Some happy ranchers across the country with their pups. Thank you Robin and Rocky for your friendship and support with your great studs. A brilliant run and a fantastic team.
Looks like she had was also lucky to have what looks to be a Border Collie!
She drank whiskey, swore often, and smoked handmade ci**rs. She wore pants under her skirt and a gun under her apron. At six feet tall and two hundred pounds, Mary Fields was an intimidating woman.
Mary lived in Montana, in a town called Cascade. She was a special member of the community there. All schools would close on her birthday, and though women were not allowed entry into saloons, she was given special permission by the mayor to come in anytime and to any saloon she liked.
But Mary wasn’t from Montana. She was born into enslavement in Tennessee sometime in the early 1830s, and lived enslaved for more than thirty years until slavery was abolished. As a free woman, life led her first to Florida to work for a family and then Ohio when part of the family moved.
When Mary was 52, her close friend who lived in Montana became ill with pneumonia. Upon hearing the news, Mary dropped everything and came to nurse her friend back to health. Her friend soon recovered and Mary decided to stay in Montana settling in Cascade.
Her beginning in Cascade wasn’t smooth. To make ends meet, she first tried her hand at the restaurant business. She opened a restaurant, but she wasn’t much of a chef. And she was also too generous, never refusing to serve a customer who couldn’t pay. So the restaurant failed within a year.
But then in 1895, when in her sixties, Mary, or as “Stagecoach Mary” as she was sometimes called because she never missed a day of work, became the second woman and first African American to work as a mail carrier in the U.S. She got the job because she was the fastest applicant to hitch six horses.
Eventually she retired to a life of running a laundry business. And babysitting all the kids in town. And going to baseball games. And being friends with much of the townsfolk.

We have a wonderful male pup from a once in a lifetime breeding between Broken Circle Border Collies Burndale Ben and our GCR Grace who is Broken Circle CR Border Collies breeding as well. Her sire is BC Red Rover. Grace is niece to Grundy, the dog who after winning the Red Bluff Stockdog Trial went on to sell for $30,000. This pup has been held and we had a great stock owner ready for him. Unfortunately something came up at the last minute and he will be waiting for a puppy next fall. This pup has a calm, sweet disposition, is extremely comfortable in a large, open environment, does great in both kennel and crate. Travels well in the truck. Looking for a working home either in stock, SARs, dog sports. Very quick to learn. 13 weeks old, first two shots, microchipped.

I want to tell you what an intelligent dog's Skye is. She started sitting on my lap and putting her head in my chest. You're not a puppy anymore. What are you doing then at night? She will go from the bottom of the bed and snuggle next to me so she could put her head by my chest I just found out. I have an infection in my chest. I have to have surgery to scrape out the infection between my heart and my lung I should have listened to the dog.Sooner. She knew all along.She's such a smart dog. I love her so much♥️
This is about a BCW Texas x GCR Skye Blue pup we delivered to a magnificent and huge hearted woman, a veteran and a grandmother who is raising 5 children, 3 of whom are her grandchildren and two who needed a home filled with love.
I pray over my puppies before they are born and I can only say that God delivers. Another Skye pup saved an 11 year old grandchild of his owners. It was Thanksgiving day and the ladies were busy in the kitchen, the men watching football. On a couch the dog and boy were snuffled up sleeping. At some point the Dog came to his owner and gently took her hand and pulled on it. “Not now Scout, I’m busy cooking” and Scout went back to the couch. He came two more times the third being very aggressive in his pulling on her. It suddenly occurred to her that what is this as Scout is always to total sweetheart. She quickly looked at the boy on the couch and realized he didn’t look right. She cried out to her husband as he was closest and when he held the child he cried out that the boy was burning up. He was raced to the hospital and after waiting what seermed forever the doctor came out and told the family that another 20 minutes and the boy’s appendix would have burst!
Isn’t it anazing how God gifts us in ways we might not ever understand. And sometimes it’s just a dog who had a job to do when it was time. I thank you Lord Jesus who is my redeemer, Father God who is my Abba Father, Holy Spirit who resides in me.

We need the snow but happily while Lee reported and sent the last two photos 11degrees is not as fun as made out to be so I’m happy to report in returning home after a short visit with sisters and cousins in San Diego and bringing a warm up back to the toasty 40’s Sunday!
