For the safety of our hospital staff that commutes, we will continue to be closed throughout today, and will reopen for our normal hours from 8 am-6 pm tomorrow. All of our appointments will be contacted and rescheduled, and if you were scheduled for Spay Day, your surgery appointments will be honored to be scheduled for any other day. If you happen to have an emergency in the meantime, please refer to Medvet in Mandeville or LSU Veterinary Hospital in Baton Rouge.

HISTORIC WINTER STORM coming for the Gulf Coast. From Houston to Florida, it’s going to snow - A LOT. The snowstorm will develop in the early morning hours Tuesday and continue for most of the day. Expect precipitation to start as a mix and then flip to all snow. Where we get those snow bands, the intensity of the snow could be over an inch an hour. Winds will also be gusty making for white out conditions at times. This is something we’ve not experienced in our lifetime, it will rival the epic Gulf Coast Snowstorm of 1895.

Please understand the urgency that the cold will be dangerous, travel will be impossible and tree branches will snap from the weight of the snow. I know snow can be so fun but be safe! Stay home, watch those trees around your house, keep the pets warm and keep your pipes protected.

The storm’s impacts will last multiple days! We may have to shelter-in-place for at least 48 hours Tuesday-Thursday.

Here is my latest forecast thinking for totals. Of course the numbers can be higher or lower for certain locations.
