We want to clarify recent concerns regarding the involvement of Animal Care Center, Pet Care Center, and Dr. Wheat in the decision to have a Tiger present on the field during LSU games this fall.

While Dr. Wheat serves as the medical director for Animal Care Center, we want to assure our community that neither of the hospitals nor Dr. Wheat was consulted or involved with any decisions that led to a tiger being on the field. This matter was solely under the jurisdiction of other state authorities.

As always, our hospitals are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets and animals in our community, and we remain focused on their well-being above all else.

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with you! To better care for your beloved pets during those unexpected moments, Animal Care Center is introducing Urgent Care Hours. Our Hammond location is now open for urgent visits Monday through Saturday until 8:00 PM.

Whether you’re a longtime friend or new to our family, our compassionate team is here to provide immediate care for minor injuries, sudden changes in behavior, and urgent medical concerns. If necessary, we can also refer you to a specialist or emergency hospital.

We’re dedicated to your pets’ well-being and look forward to being there for you in every way we can. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out at 985-542-6300.
