**Homemade incubator update!**

We candled eggs last night. I was hoping to get a picture of the process but ended up using a flashlight instead of our regular candle box, so I didn't have a third hand to take a picture. ;) After candling at one week in the incubator, we have 5 eggs that are for sure viable, 7 eggs that I wasn't confident enough one way or the other, and 3 that are for sure early deaths.

Thoughts:

1. Yay! The incubator is working! Some of the eggs are definitely developing so I call that a win.
2. I'm amazed that it appears all 15 of the eggs I borrowed from the hens were fertilized. Good job, bois.
3. I always forget how tough it is to candle the darker shelled eggs!

Cant wait to see the continued progress. Hatch day should be March 19(ish). If all goes well, we should have new baby chicks on the farm just in time for the first day of spring. 🌸
