Fruity had his follow up visit with Dr. Chiappetta at Animal Clinic of Hammonton last Friday, and his anemia is improving and his bilirubin has decreased, indicating that his liver is doing better. He did lose some weight, and his prognosis is still very guarded since we don’t know if his vasculitis will continue to cause issues, and whether he will ever be able to be off medication. Plus because of his heart murmur, surgery will always be a high risk situation for him. Currently his quality of life is good, and we intend to see how far he can go with treatment as long as he is comfortable and happy! He has another recheck in three weeks.

So far, Fruity’s bills have exceeded $1,000, so please consider donating towards his care!

Happy 2nd Birthday to us! 🥳

Thank you all that have followed, donated, shared, and joined our team! We’ve had 281 intakes and 253 adoptions since we started. 🫶 We take pride in these numbers — we are a team of less than 20.

These numbers don’t tell the whole story though: so many of the cats we take on are fragile neonates, as well medically complex and special needs animals, demanding extraordinary levels of veterinary and at-home care. These past two years have been a lot of work, but we wouldn’t change a thing!

Fruity hasn’t been doing as well as we hoped – he was not gaining weight, and he developed some jaundice that required a vet visit.

After over $800 in diagnostics, we have some answers, but unfortunately it’s not the best news for Fruity: in addition to his injured paw and tail, he is also suffering from immune-mediated hemolytic anemia and likely immune-mediated vasculitis, some liver damage, and heart disease. This poor boy got such terrible luck! We are currently treating him with liver medication and steroids to hopefully help his overactive immune system to calm down and let his blood counts recover before we can decide on further course of action. Please keep him and his foster family in your thoughts, and donate toward his care if you can!

We are grateful to our friends at Animal Clinic of Hammonton for the excellent care and medical expertise! We especially appreciate Dr. Chiappetta’s knowledge and compassion.

Rise Again Animal Rescue is excited to announce that we just launched a new initiative, funding for which was received on a recommendation from the Quinn's Corner Fund of the Community Foundation of New Jersey.

We are now offering assistance to cats of domestic abuse survivors, including foster placement, housing deposits, and basic veterinary care.

“Assisting Domestic Violence Survivors and Their Feline Companions” initiative is tailored to assist individuals who have left or are planning to leave an abusive situation, but are concerned about well-being of their feline companions. Please reach out to us if you are looking for temporary placement for your cat, or other forms of assistance as listed below:

💜Foster placement for 2 months, with up to two additional months of boarding
💜Routine care including vaccinations and spay/neuter
💜Financial assistance with pet security deposit (up to $500)

Please notice that the purpose of this grant is NOT rehoming but helping individuals experiencing hardships to keep their beloved cats!

Gray Gray is a sweet and handsome boy, who loves nothing better than to purr, make muffins, and give head butts! He gets along with cats, calm dogs, children, and whoever else you have living in your house. He is definitely people-oriented so he will be happy as an only pet as well.

He is neutered, vaccinated, negative for FIV and FeLV, microchipped, and dewormed. He is estimated to be five years old, and will be ready to go home January 17!

Hi! I'm Aneka!

My foster mom calls me Neekie, and I love to sit with her for pets. She says I purr really loud! I'm a quick eater, and LOVE to eat. So she feeds me a little bit, a few times a day. Something about being a little piggy she says! I have almost no tail, but it makes no difference in me as a kitten! I love MY people, and sometimes my foster cat siblings. The house puppy sometimes makes me nervous, but the older dog likes to cuddle and clean me. I LIKE it.

I'm on special food, because I don't absorb all my nutrients, but I like it.

Aneka is vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and negative for FIV and FelV.

Fluffy McFluffers is putting in as much effort as all of us at 4 pm on Friday.

Here is a small glimpse into what we do on any given day. There have been times we’ve had 30 minutes to get to the shelter to beat a euthanasia timestamp. We’ve left a lawnmower in the middle of a half cut yard, our uneaten dinners on the table, and sometimes out of our beds. We are happy to report Tommy has made a full recovery and has been adopted!
