Mr. Drew and His Animals Too is open!!
WE ARE OFFICIALLY OPEN AND I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU!!!!
09/15/2023 10am-4pm to explore the Center (5pm for retail).
It has been a long process with much build out, hoops to jump through and a lot learning curves but we did it! We did it with YOUR SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT!
I would love to thank all those that helped build our new facility because if it fell upon me, it would have never happened. All summer long I was on the road from sunrise to past sunset, seven days a week doing my presentations around the state of Maine.
I want to thank, most importantly, my wife, Susan (aka Mrs. Drew) we have had many challenges, discussions, tears and difficulties but without her, my dream would only be my dream and not a reality that you all can be a part of. I am truly blessed that she is my wife and I truly do love her very much.
Thank you to the ENTIRE Horton family! This new Family Museum of Natural Science for our hometown of Lewiston, Maine would not be here if it was not for them all believing in what we do stepping in on that fateful February day with a Go Fund Me and showing us that our community believes in us too! This whole family is very important for getting us to this point so we can open the doors. There is so many things they have selflessly done, that we can never thank them enough for.
Thank you to my building crew! Nick Horton, a young man who started working for us at 16, now 19, deserves much of the credit for what you will see when visiting. He worked with a crew, that made it all happen, Dan Hanson and Peter Ferrante who volunteered there time and energy to build and create the fine details and Don Greene who came on board as an employee for one purpose but we found he was too handy to waste his talent in the construction. Tear down walls, build walls, paint, build exhibits and so much more.
My old friend Jim Leeman for the tile work and donations of minerals for our Geology area. Sully’s electric and Norm Michaud plumbing for all the work that goes into building a rescue, you made it real!
My staff and volunteers who put up with ALL my grumpiness and frustrations. You are the the ones that maintained over 200 animals and the customers that came in for retail, again without you, everything stops.
Thank you Ari Linee for your passion and enclosure designs and being my right hand with the animals health and welfare and keeping me focused and apprised on the hundreds of animals that have come through our new facility already.
Thank you all that have made financial donations or material donations, you know who you are! Without you, many of the things created may not have happened.
Saturday, we have teamed up with the Ashlar Masonic Lodge in Auburn to raise money to buy Kindles for our first annual “Kindles for Kids” event.
So though it is my name and my animals that people see and know, it is so many people that make this all possible and know that I am not alone. I appreciate every single one of you.
Peace and Love to you all in these wild times.
-Mr. Drew.
