In 1981, Martha Nicholson purchased an old barber shop at her own expense and opened The Cat Corner in Hampton, Virginia. The Cat Corner is a no-kill, non-profit cat shelter for homeless cats, that has been operated by volunteers since 1981 and is solely funded by donations. Cats are accepted into the

shelter as space becomes available and each receives proper medical care, will be spayed/neutered and updated on their shots prior to becoming available for adoption. Adopting families are screened and care is taken to closely match cats and their new families to insure a good fit. It would be unfair to the cat to get attached to a family...only to be brought back to the shelter. We do ask though, if it is not a good fit or there is a change of circumstances and you can no longer provide care for you cat, please bring them back to the Cat Corner and to not take them anywhere else. Please come by and visit the kitties, we are always looking for dedicated volunteers and wonderful forever homes for our kitty residents. Cats know the song in your heart and purr it to you when your memory fails.

Meet the beauty Giselle! She takes a little bit of time to warm up, but once she does Giselle is a perfect addition to any home! Her lovely bright blue eyes, cuddly, and sweet personality makes her the most loving friend. She gets along with other cat friends and even dogs! Little “Bree” needs lots of positive thoughts sent her way… poor baby is still congested so we had to postpone her leg amputation but she’s a little trooper and could not get any sweeter…she just wants to be where her foster momma is 24/7 😻🐾

Meet Elliot Stabler,

This handsome man is a ball of energy and loves to play. He will help to keep you entertained by bringing you his fuzzy ball to play fetch, you just may occasionally have to pull it out of his water bowl after he tries to make toy soup. Spring toys are another favorite and he will alert you to how wonderful they are by meowing while carrying them in his mouth. Just like his sister, Olivia, he will come when you call his name or yell "kittens" and will promptly expect to be petted for being such a good boy. After a hard day of playing he will either seek out a warm lap or snuggle up with his sister. It's hard not to fall in love with such a sweet boy. Could Elliot be the kitty you are looking for?

Note: Elliot is bonded with Olivia Benson; They will need a home together.

Meet Dean,

This handsome boy is so sweet! Dean has beautiful pink skin under his interesting markings and very seldom sheds. He LOVES human interaction and will even lay on your chest at your request! He will go crazy playing with his beloved electronic toy(s) or with if you have a wand toy in your hand. He is in general a happy cat and will even happily accept a loving kiss from you on his head! A snuggly blanket in your lap from him to cuddle up in would be a plus! He is a tidy, clean boy that would do perfect with another laid back cat or as an only cat in the home!

As we step into the new year, we have two new special little souls in need! Meet Bree and Pippin 🐱 Let’s start 2025 by giving back and saving lives!

🧡 Our local high-intake, public shelter reached out to us in hopes to make a difference in not one, but two kittens brought to their shelter with broken legs. Both came in from separate situations… but both shared things in common.. 1- they are both only a few months old, and 2- they both are suffering from broken legs. One is also suffering from trauma to her head from her previous home. Even though she had been harmed by the ones that were supposed to love her and care for her, she still is wanting love and affection from humans. She has such a sweet, gentle, and forgiving soul. ❤️‍🩹

Please HELP US, HELP THEM. Please help us show them that not all humans are bad and help them get the help they need. These babies are so incredibly sweet! Once they get the surgeries and medical attention they need, they will make the sweetest additions to their new families when adopted.

Meet Gracie,
My name is Gracie and I have called this shelter "home" for too long! I am ready to begin a new life with you! I prefer to be an only child and not share any attention. I don't really play a lot but I LOVE to sit in your lap and be brushed! Like A LOT! I am very petite and dainty with a signature heart on my nose. I am ready to love and be loved! I will need a very dedicated human to care for me because I carry the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). But don't worry, I can't pass it to humans and if I am well cared for, I can live a long happy life just like cats without FIV! Could you be the forever home I have been waiting for?

Meet Olive,
Hi, my name is Olive! I am a beautiful, fluffy, young little girl that is super sweet and full of energy! I had a bit of a rough start at my first home but since coming into the Cat Corner family things are looking up! I can be a bit shy at first but once I feel comfortable and safe I love being around my people. I do like to tell you about my day and will follow you around while you tell me about yours. I love to be pet and get scratches, I especially love my lick treats! After a round of playing with my wand toys or zoomies, I like to curl up next to you and take a nap. I am a good helper, too! I will lay on the items you were going to use so they donâ€™t fly away. I do not like certain toys that are loud because they still scare me a little. My foster mom says its because I never had toys as a kitten, but I do now, so we are working on it. I would do best in a calmer home without small children. I have not been around dogs but am fine with other laid back cats. Could I be a good fit for you?

Meet Sadie! 😍 This little girl has the most unique markings! She absolutely loves to play with toys… especially string toys that her foster mom moves and plays with her with. She also loves pets on her cheeks and on her back. She will roll around when she’s really getting into her scratches haha. She also loves the company of other cats. She is a little shy when warming up to you. She prefers a quieter, more calm home environment. When there is too much going on, she hides under her bed like a little turtle 🐢. She is being fostered with a calm, small dog and seems curious about him. She does not seem interested at all being around younger children (because she loves her calm, quiet environment).
