Hancock Highland Kennels is permanently closed due to owners' retirement. We have loved serving our community. Our time with your dogs provided us with some of the best memories of our lives.

Hello friends, the kennel is open for overnight boarding until August 8th. Our price remains the same which is $35 per day per dog. Since we are now operating on a much smaller scale payments should be made by cash or check. We still have some room but our giant breed kennels are nearly full. Your dogs will receive the same love and attention as always. Kennels are cleaned and sanitized daily and dogs will get lots of playtime in the dog yard.

I still have space for a few dogs both the week of Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas. I won't be boarding dogs at other times through the Winter unless someone has need of dog care due to a medical emergency. Contact Cheryl:

Hi everyone. I (Cheryl) was supposed to remove this page as of today. However, I need technology help, available to me tomorrow. Stand by for updated contact information, etc. Would you believe I once ran a computer lab?

Hello everyone. This is Diane. I've been wanting to post something to all of you and am now taking the opportunity since this page will be gone as of Sunday. It's taken me a while, because I have found it very difficult not seeing all your wonderful dogs. They all became like family as well as you, our wonderful clients. Still the decision to close the business was the best option for us. I needed time to get used to not sharing my days with all those sweet furry babies. I want to say thank you for allowing us to care for your sweet pups. It was wonderful getting to know you and seeing you every week.
I am doing great and have moved to Keene with my two fur babies. I am really concentrating on Gandhi's service dog training. It's a lot of work and time consuming, but he's very intelligent and learning quickly. At six months, he's 65 pounds and growing like a w**d! Luna tolerates his crazy puppy antics and is so patient with him. I'm working part time at Cheshire Medical Center.
I am doing in home dog care for one dog at a time and loving it. I get to see some of my pals from the kennel! I have a small home and kennel so one at dog time is best. They are in my home with me and treated as one of my own. I've been charging $20 per day, but as of 12/1 will be charging $25/day which will not be changed again. I realize that this is a low rate, but since my home and outdoor space cannot compare. I feel that this is an appropriate rate. Please feel free to contact me for my personal information if interested. Just FYI, I'm mostly booked for November and half of December already as well as New Years weekend.

Hello friends, Cheryl here. We are all doing well and while we are not missing the exhausting pace of the kennel, we do miss our canine and human kennel friends. We will be taking down the kennel page and email by the end of the week. We, Erich, Diane and Cheryl, are each continuing to do limited boarding and Erich and I are still doing training. Please message any of us through this page for our individual information. We hope to be in touch soon by other means as well.

Basic Obedience Class canceled this morning (November 6th)due to a minor medical emergency.

This is Cheryl posting. I want to thank you all very much for the outpouring of love and support we have received from our clients and the whole community. I always knew this but have realized more fully that when we love someone's dog, we enter into a relationship with his or her family. You have truly become treasured friends and we will miss you. I love each of our client dogs. The three siblings would often discuss favorite dogs. After a while we would just start laughing because everyone was on our favorite list. All week I wondered how each of them has been doing and has been adjusting to the changes. Our biggest regret has been over letting you and your wonderful dogs down.
So, what's next? First, let me clear up a rumor. Rick and I love our house, the property and Hancock. We are not selling. Erich and Diane will each do very limited overnight boarding at their homes. You can also check in with them about training. I will do very limited boarding here at the kennel and I will continue to offer group and private training classes. Please feel free to private message me for my mobile phone number. In the Spring and once we have grass growing, I plan to offer weekly dog socials so watch for information at the end of winter.
Again, please know of my sincerest thanks and affection.
Cheryl Duerden

Happy birthday Tucker! Since he and Nash are here for Tucker's birthday, they are in side by side kennels enjoying large, raw beef marrow bones. The other overnight dogs each got one too. We'll put the Gsd brothers back in the same kennel when they're done with their treasured treats. Of course, we also sang Happy Birthday while some of our canine friends joined in.

Many people who are interested in our group obedience classes have requested that we delay the start of classes until Fall schedules are more settled. Therefore, Basic Obedience Class and Puppy Class will begin in October rather than August. We’ll keep you posted.

08/13/2021

The kennel will be closed November 8th and 9th for routine maintenance.

To all of our wonderful clients and potential clients:
We will be closed on the following dates so that our family may enjoy the Highland games.
September 16-19. Many of you are scheduled for regular day boarding and will need to make other plans for those days. Thanks.
