We want to provide an update on the German Shepherd found Friday night on Excelsior by the river...
X-rays show that his front left elbow is broken and both his tibias (lower rear leg bones) are severely rotated, a condition likely present since birth. Despite adapting by shifting his weight onto his front legs, the recent fracture to his front leg has significantly impaired his mobility. Orthopedic surgery will be necessary to correct his rear legs, and it's recommended this is done soon.
Unfortunately, at just one year old, the dog is already exhibiting signs of arthritis in several areas, and his prognosis remains uncertain even with treatment. We must carefully consider his quality of life at this stage.
We would like to express our gratitude to the community for their support and donations, which have enabled us to cover the costs of his veterinary care and x-rays.
