Ava has taken over the papasan at her foster home, but if you ask nicely, she'd be more than happy to share a warm and cozy spot with you. Everyone should have a dog to cuddle up with for these chilly, gloomy months, and Ava is a pro!

Meet Crab Ragoon – Our Lovably Crabby Boy 😼❤️

Crab Ragoon is a 7-month-old kitten with a big personality and an even bigger attitude—affectionately known around here simply as “Crab.” 😆

He came to us unsure of people, and while he’s slowly warming up, everything with Crab is very much on his own terms. He’s the type of kitty who wants to feel safe, respected, and given the space to decide when he’s ready for love.

Underneath that spicy exterior is a young cat who wants to learn trust—he just needs the right environment. Crab Ragoon would thrive with another confident, friendly cat to help show him that the world isn’t so scary and that love can be a really wonderful thing.

Jango has found himself back at SAMS through no fault of his own after being adopted in 2021. Jango has been loved and cared for, which is clear from his appearance and temperment, but hard times hit his human. Jango is good with other dogs, cats and all people big and small, but he is obviously anxious in the shelter, and we would love to see him in a foster home instead. If you've ever thought about opening up your home to a shelter pup, maybe now is the time. Please reach out if you'd be willing to give Jango back his feeling of safety ❤️

12 1/2 years young and still up for a good frolic in the leaves 🍂 Princeton is in need of a quiet place to land where he can warm up at his own pace and understand that he is safe. He'd do best in a single-dog, adult only household.

Razzle Dazzle absolutely loved soaking in every moment of attention from the ladies at Peoria County Jail! We adore this partnership and what it does for our dogs. Dazzle is slowly loosing her spark at the shelter, so it was amazing seeing the light in her eyes again. Please help us share this girl so that she can find her forever.

Hi friends 👋
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Phillip. Let me tell you a bit about myself and my day. Beautiful weather this morning, so I figured I’d take one of SAMs’ volunteers on a walk. They did well, but I did better. Only pulled a little on my leash, but I caught a scent! A hound’s gonna hound, ya know? Anyway, was nice to see my friend today — I love people… and dogs… and walks… and pretty much everything. But what I don’t love is being the longest tenured resident at SAMs.
Let’s be real: I’m cute, I’m smart, and I’m in great shape. I’m a real catch, so let’s everyone stop being coy. I’m ready to be adopted, so one your marks, get set, go 🚦

Luka has been in a foster home for a week now, and I think it's safe to say he's settling in just fine ❤️ he is living in a home with a previously adopted SAMS pups and doing great! Luka had some barrier reactivity with other dogs at SAMS, so this is one of the many reasons we are so grateful for our fosters-- it gives us a chance to better understand how a dog will be in a home environment away from the stress of the shelter. Bulk boxes like these from costco, aldi or sam's club make great cubbies for our shelter cats! We would love to have more!
