"When a tree falls over at an inopportune time."

The owners had done their due diligence when it came to doing all the things for their lost dog, but he didn't turn up.
Friends and family had spent time searching, but still no Winston.
With him being startled, it being cold, and so many people searching for him, I had a hunch the dog was tucked up tight and hadn't made a peep when people passed by his hiding spot.
Dogs are just smart like that, and that's what happened.

It was a cold and windy night when I headed out on the call,
and it was a loud Dallas, when we finally caught sight of that cute, little, dog all tucked up under a log, with only his nose and tail sticking out.
No words in the world to describe how one feels, when you finally catch sight of what's been searched so hard for!

This video has been long in coming.
I hope you enjoy "Searching for Winston."

We got back from a great trip to the WNC mountains. Helping out at the Blessing Project, delivering hundreds of pounds of frozen venison to families in the mountains and cleaning up a sweet elderly lady's property who lost her home. We are going to continue working on some fun projects down here. There is so much work to be done.

The old Yukon is making another trip south this weekend. The trailer is loaded with supplies for some homesteading communities that got wiped out, quilts my grandma made, other needed items, and we got 600 bottles of wellness products from a family owned, PA business that our family has loved and used for years. Shout out to Natural Hope Herbals.

And my personal favorite.
One of the guys I did a herd analysis for, offered me venison. So thanks to the generosity of him and the man that owns the butcher shop, I have 300+ lb of frozen venison in prepackaged 1 lb bags to hand out to families in need, that rely on this for food. So excited to get this deer meat in people's hands!

I'll also be doing some drone work and mapping while in the area.

Meet 'Bart',
the steer who thought that the grass was greener on the other side of the fence.
He was enjoying his new life of leisure, chomping in new pastures, hanging out where he didn't belong,
until a drone came along,
ruined his fun,
and put him back where he once was.
And the rest is history.

Another happy ending.

Smokey, was a ten year old husky whose family had been searching for roughly 48 hours for him.

It was another blistery cold and windy night when I got there to set up.
They had a community of support, which I always love to see.

There had been a potential sighting mentioned in a certain area, so we focused on canvasing that area, but after an hour+ of fruitless flying, I knew the dog was not in that area.
It was an extremely rural area, with large amounts of woods and fields to search through.
We worked our way the opposite direction and after a short time, I spotted him all curled up tight in a ball, right off of a power line.

I stayed in the air, and navigated the owner and his sister about 500 yards straight to the dog. They did so well at talking calmly and reassuringly, while shaking treats, so as to not spook him.

They got him, took him back to the warm truck, and home where two little children woke up the next morning with their doggy back home safe and sound!
Their daddy sent me a photo of them happily on the floor with their dog, it was such a happy photo. With children of my own, and two of them being the same age, it made the rescue that much sweeter.

I got the best text message later on.

This video is the best.
At the very end, she's so excited, her tail about wags off. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

Recovery video coming soon, but until then, enjoy this sweetness.

Sometimes in life, there are circumstances that require taking wise, calculated risks.

This night was one of them.
I got a call about this sweet, little puppy who took off the night before, leash and all.
Owners pulled about an all-nighter searching and searching for her, the community was looking, but no sightings. Nothing turned up.

I looked at the map, and had a hunch on where she might be hunkered down.
The weather that night was calling for 40 mph winds and even heavier wind gusts,
all of which are not my most favorite to fly in. But I was pretty sure she had gotten hung up somewhere, and with temperatures continuing to drop, I couldn't not try!
I was confident in the drone,
and also my ability to fly cautiously and effectively.

Arrived, and we made a game plan for the night. We searched through the developments first, before I started grid searching the fields and fence rows.

About 20 minutes later, I spotted a red thermal spot in a fence row, and I was hopeful. Flipped it over to the camera and there she was, stuck in a bunch of logs and branches. Hearing the relief and joy when they saw their lost puppy show up, made it all worthwhile. Knowing that you're someone's last resort, and you come through for them, no better feeling.

Guided them in with the drone and phone,
and from the air, I got to watch the puppy catch sight of her family and come unglued with excitement!

She was happy and healthy, just needed a little bath from her adventure. πŸ˜‚πŸ’œ
I headed home so wound up, knowing she was safe and sound and her owners could go to bed that night with peace of mind.

I was made aware of an account using my content and trying to charge money upfront "for my services" before they even come out. Which is not how I roll. I have no clue how many people he swindled cash from. But pet scammers are getting worse.
Account manager is from Nigeria and I'm sure all other content on account isn't his either.

To say this is infuriating when one works so hard to build a reputable business with strong relationships!!!
If you would take the time to hop over to Drone Six and report the account, I'd really appreciate it.

It's been a wild ride,
and I've been hanging on.
Full time job.
Family.
Drone Services.
And I just got back from another run to WNC.

Sometimes push,
comes to violent shove, πŸ˜‚πŸ«£
but our goal was to provide the gift of a "home" for two more families, just in time for Christmas.

With the help of others,
we were able to purchase two more campers,
stock a family's needs list, gift a man with replacement power tools and haul them down early Sunday morning.
Special thanks to my buddy Brent Miller for going above and beyond for me and helping me haul this one down. And for my parents hauling the other one down, despite everything they had on their plate.

One camper went to a couple whose property was swiped clean. They also lost their daughter/son-in-law and two grand boys.
(same age as my own boys)
One of those members was found 40 miles downstream. 😭
The other camper went to a couple and their daughter whose house was washed away in the flood.

Every time I come home,
I'm hit with a hard reality check.
Pictures will never do justice to the loss,
and words fail.

Life isn't back to normal,
not even close.
We're not finished yet.
there is still lots to do.
My wife and I are only two people,
but when we all rally together,
we have the capacity to make even a bigger impact.

When a good shot yields no blood,
what do you do?
Drone Recovery=No Waste.

This one was found in under a minute,
and yet another deer found,
for another happy hunter.

Camper Storytime.
Hanover, PA ➑️- Weaverville, NC πŸ“
She's in her new home, at the top of a bluff.

↩️After the storm, a friend and I went down to WNC and under Savage Freedom, I flew my thermal drone working recovery for about half a week.
Since then, my wife and I have felt a connection and calling to help in some way.
My wife had been keeping tabs on things with local FB groups, and as time passed, the need for preferably campers started growing.

I had made some local connections with some solid, good men, with a heart for their community, and so the vision of being the footwork of getting a camper to a family in need was born.
Coincidentally, my wife and I were in charge of our church's Thanksgiving service, and that's when my wife came up with the idea of involving the children of our church to join us, and do a Thanksgiving act of service; providing a camper to a family.
"Expressing our thankfulness to God, by extending what we've been given to others that are in need."

We gave them homework.
Invest some of their time and labor that week, to raise money and then the following Sunday we would have a special offering just for the camper.
Pretty little envelopes were put into the offering that Sunday, and with the help of others in our church we raised enough money for the first camper.
After getting the camper ready for her voyage south, we grabbed our five children and hit the road .
Met my local buddy on location, and also the family who would call the camper home.
Got it all set up, then my wife excitedly gave her a little tour of everything inside. We talked for awhile, hearing the variety of huge needs and stories that broke my heart.
We ate lunch together, exchanged more hugs, phone numbers and then we headed over to Swannonea, to show the family some of the areas that I flew.
Children had a reality check,
it's really hard to fathom with your own eyes, what is actually happening in the "backyard" of our country.

So grateful for the opportunity to show love in action, by using the connection I've been given, and for all the pieces of PA children's hearts that were invested in this first camper. πŸ§©πŸ’œπŸ§

Getting ready for round 2.
Look for a post tomorrow,
for details on how you can join us in this. 🀝

Dallas, let's start with:
One Camper.
One Family.
The Lord impressed this vision upon my wife, and she and our children poured their hearts into making this camper a home.

We're packing up and headed out soon.
We'll meet up with a guy I met when I flew search and recovery down there, and get this all set up for the family who will call her home.
There are 100s of displaced families on a waiting list for a camper. The need is heartbreaking, but we can make a difference one family at a time.

I will most likely be in and out of service,
but I'll be back to servicing calls hopefully by tomorrow night.

Drone Storytime with Dallas.

This buck was a legend, an old warrior.
He made a name for himself on the mountain.
Every season, with every trail camera picture they got and every sighting they had, he built anticipation in the heart of the hunters.

Some things are meant to be.
Sometimes it's all about being at the right place, at the right time.
And some experiences in nature,
feel like a gift straight from God.
Every hunt has a story, and sometimes the hunt allows us to experience the presence of our loved ones who have passed on. It feels like they're right there with us.
So excited to have played a small part in this story, and watching the excitement as friends and family come together to celebrate the hunt and also the memories!
🦌
In the heart of every passionate and ethical hunter, is a deep respect for the creatures of the wild, a respect that non-hunters/anti hunters will ever understand.
An emotion that can't always be put to words.

Hunting is our heritage.
Every early culture relied on it for survival.
Today, it gives us the opportunity to ethically source our own food to feed our families and our communities.
Through hunting, we've forged a connection to the land and have learned how to couple good stewardship of the land, while maintaining healthy wildlife.

Hunting is a way of life.
