We are a small preservation breeder of AKC Russell Terriers in Richmond, VA. All of our dogs live in our home and we have very limited litters.

We are always happy to refer you to another breeder we work with if you are looking for a puppy and we do not have any available. We take pride in showing our own dogs in American Kennel Club conformation dog shows.
The 🎉Party Litter🎉 has made their appearance. After much anticipation and work from Christy Rebehn helping to keep Java healthy during her pregnancy, the two little party animals have made their appearance! Two girls and we can’t wait to see how they grow. Mama and pups are doing well ❤️

Nixon had a great time in Texas. Not only did he place every day, competing in 7 shows in 9 days. He also traveled incredibly well and made new friends everywhere he went. I’m so proud of how adaptable and biddable this young boy is!

We’ve been patiently waiting for our girls to come in heat. As a small preservation breeder, we keep a small number of dogs so do not have litters constantly. If you saw our last post, you probably realized one of these things is not like the other 🤣
A few weeks ago we brought home a PBGV, JuJu from the esteemed Gebeba Kennel that we have been working with for over 10 years. She is such a sweet girl and has blended right in with the Russells. We are excited to see her future and are proud to own another lovely breed of purposely bred dogs.

Note: No our dogs do not live in cages/pens/etc but we DO believe it is important for the dogs to have a safe space while home alone instead of having free reign to get into mischief. We find pens preferable to crates where practicable because it gives them more space.

No love for Nixon in the breed the last two days BUT he had a great time showing in juniors with his new friend, and she went Best Junior Handler with him at the Columbia Terrier Show! It was her first time showing a terrier and she did wonderful. So proud of Nixon too for having such a biddable and willing attitude.

This is a very helpful and detailed chart! Most breeders will not label themselves in one category. It takes some work on the part of the puppy buyer to be able to spot these distinctions.
Another note: just because a breeder has "always" done things a certain way for many years doesn't mean that practice is always best. There is no doubt that experience goes a long way in breeding dogs, but as breeders we need to continue to learn and evolve. If we aren't open to new ideas or research we never grow.

💬 It's important to not only pick your breeder when you are choosing a new puppy, but it is just as important to understand there are different TYPES of breeders that exist.
‼️ We encourage all puppy buyers to do their research when selecting a breeder. Hopefully this chart helps give a little more clarity.
