Just get a poodle

Taken from another post but was too good not to share:

❤️food for thought....All three of these dogs look like a doodle...right? A non-shedding, intelligent, trainable pet that looks like a teddy bear & without the “fancy poodle” look. Guess what my friends... these 3 dogs are poodles ... purebred, standard poodles with a teddy bear cut.

🧠Intelligence=poodle
🧹Non Shedding = poodle
🎓Easy to train = poodle
🐻Teddy bear Cut = Groomer

🛑People spend 2.5x (plus) the price of a purebred poodle, for a mixed breed dog that comes with no papers, typically no genetic testing & zero knowledge of the genetic history and pedigree. Please realize that doodles are popping up in rescues in crazy amounts due to unforeseen behaviors and physical traits that the breeders had no idea of knowing.... ie: shedding. It’s rare that you will find a well bred poodle in a shelter... why? Because reputable breeders take their puppies back if you can’t keep them.

⭐️Wally Conran was the first to breed a doodle and to quote his thoughts "I opened a Pandora's box, that's what I did. I released a Frankenstein. So many people are just breeding for the money. So many of these dogs have physical problems, and a lot of them are just crazy.”

💰Just because someone stuck a high price tag on the product, doesn’t mean the product is worth the price.

Buyers also don’t realize the slim chance that the puppy will not shed, or may not get the good behavior/intelligence of a standard. Wally Conran tested a litter of 10 doodles, 3 were non shedding.

Goldendoodles are a cross between a golden and a poodle. How can ANYONE guarantee non shedding when golden’s shed? Even if it’s 5th generation doodle, how can you guarantee non shedding unless genetic testing is done to guarantee that the golden gene didn’t make its way down through the gene pool? They can’t!!!

Poodles come in MANY different colors too! And yes you can get a cream/Appricot/red poodle that is the same color as a golden.

Are you looking for a new groomer for your pet? Someone who is as invested in your dog’s well being as you are? Well look no further!

Grooming by Krystal, located in Hanover, provides exclusive one on one grooming sessions for your loved ones. No more spending hours waiting for your pet to be groomed. Your pet will be pampered from start to finish in a private suite and can be picked up as soon as they are finished. Most dogs are finished in 60-90 minutes, although some may take longer depending on current coat condition and behavior. To help keep stress levels low, I do no spend more than 2 hours on any dog. If it’s determined that your dog will need more time, it’s recommended that you book multiple sessions.

All sessions are inclusive and pricing may vary based on a variety of factors. Your pet will receive a massaging bath with high quality natural products designed specifically for your pets breed and skin needs. They will be hand dried from start to finish, brushed completely free of knots (or removed safety if the knots are too tight), nails trimmed and filed, ears cleaned, and a breed appropriate trim or deshedding service.

I do provide 30 minutes consultations as well, where you and your pet are invited to my suite so we can discuss a grooming plan. This allows your and your pet a chance to check out the area and ask any questions prior to your grooming session. There is a $50 fee for consultations.

Priority will be given to those looking to be added to a regular 4-6 week rotation. Click the following link to access my calendar and see my availability!

Not all dogs are social butterflies, and that’s okay!

There is nothing natural about large numbers of unfamiliar dogs partaking in high-intensity activity in a dog park, and this shouldn’t be the benchmark for a social dog. If your dog is not their best in such an environment, you are not doing anything wrong. 👏👏 There is nothing wrong with your dog. 👏👏 Your dog is normal. 👏👏

LET’S TALK TOOLS

Red Arrow: Harness that fits around the dog’s body and when connected to a clip leash, creates a pulling reaction from the dog. This pulling reaction triggers the shoulders and chest muscles to be used which then influences the dog to use strength to get where they need to. If you have properly trained your dog to walk right next to you on a harness, you will not experience the pulling. Congratulations, I have yet to see this. 😂

Orange Arrow: Flat collar, usually used to connect a clip leash to and often times sits on the bottom of the neck due to gravity and the dog’s head being higher than the shoulders. This then triggers the dog’s shoulder muscles and the pulling starts. Again, this teaches the dog that strength needs to be used to get where they need to. If you have properly trained your dog to walk next to you on a flat collar, you will not experience the pulling. The majority of dogs I see are pulling during this setup.

Blue Arrow: Slip Leash is very high on the neck where it is placed behind the ears, behind the jaw bone, and it allows us to influence the dog’s head and brain. Shoulders and chest muscles are not triggered and physical strength is not used during the walk. When used correctly, little to no pressure is on the leash and physical strength is used by the dog to get from point A to point B. If you have properly trained your dog to walk next to you on a slip leash, you will not experience any pulling.

Out of the 3 tools shown, the slip leash is one of the most productive tools to create a structured walk, a calm mind, and a solid relationship.

Ever watch anyone walk a horse by the saddle?

Yeah, me either.

That’s because when you walk a 1000lb animal, you need to influence the brain and not the body.

Let’s start influencing our dog’s mentally and not physically.

Excited to announce that my new room at Pooch Paws in Hanover is officially done! Being a mobile groomer for the past (almost) 10 years was quite the adventure, but I’m happy to be off the streets and out of the elements!! I want to thank all of my clients who have supported me through this transition, I know it hasn’t been the easiest switch to make but I appreciate you all so much!!
—> I do have a few spots on my rotation open for new clients if anyone is interested! Feel free to PM me and we can get you and your pup set up!

Here are (almost) all the clients from December! I hope you all had a great holiday, best wishes for a happy and healthy...

It is with a heavy heart that I write this notice to all of my clients. My husband and I have sold our house and will be moving to an apartment. As most of you know, my van requires that it be plugged in every night to charge. Despite exhausting many options, I was not able to find a long-term solution to garage the van. As our October 22nd closing date approached quicker and quicker, it was clear that I needed to make a decision about the future of my business, and unfortunately that decision was to sell the van. October 15th will be my final day working as a mobile groomer.

However, I will continue grooming! I will be renting a table out of my parent’s shop, Pooch Paws, located at 1212 Hanover Street in Hanover, on route 139. I will continue to groom on a “one-on-one” basis, meaning your pet will still be groomed start to finish and will only be at the salon for the duration of their groom, likely 60-90 minutes. Appointments will still be booked directly through me. I know that this will not be a viable option for everyone and that some of you may need to find a new groomer. I understand completely, and will do everything I can to help assist you in that search.

I will be reaching out to everyone over the next few weeks regarding the remainder of this year’s schedule. I would like to keep as many appointments as possible, and will do my best to accommodate any necessary changes. Please be patient with me as the schedule gets worked out.

Starting in January 2022, appointments will be made on a “first come first serve” basis, Tuesdays-Fridays 830am-4pm.

I sincerely appreciate all the support I have gotten over the past (almost) 10 years of mobile grooming and hope to see many of you at the shop in Hanover!

The show schedule for the next 6 months or so has finally come out! Since last year was such a bust, I do plan on hitting as many shows as I can. Additionally, I will be taking a week off in June to celebrate my wedding anniversary since we were quarantined for our first one last year.

This may result in longer intervals between appointments for those who are not on a monthly schedule. Where I’m able to, I’m happy to accommodate new appointments but please understand that it may not be possible in every situation.

I’m eternally grateful for all my clients and appreciate everyone’s support and understanding! 💞
