Canine influenza, or “dog flu,” is a highly contagious respiratory illness that can be passed from dog to dog. It typically starts with a cough and can be mistaken for the more common and well-known Bordetella. In some cases, canine influenza can progress to pneumonia.

Last weekend Dr. Powers had the pleasure of hosting a Norwell Daisy Girl Scout Troop to show them the hospital as well as a day in the life of a vet. The children were investigating bacteria and white blood cells on microscope slides, viewing X-rays, watching an ultrasound of a dog as well as practicing scanning a microchip and examining a dog. Special thanks to Cisco, Dr. Powers' dog for being our demonstration patient! 😀
