Many thanks to Jennifer Hubbard Milliner for updating our logo so it can go on the wings that Willow Wind Equine Jumps are making for us.

The wings will be gray supports and maroon slats. I don't know why I have waited so log to do this.

Winona Wednesday: I have a lot to announce in the coming days but not quite ready for prime time yet. But I have decided to make a seperate FB Page for the 40th running of the Winona Horse Trials. Winona Wednesday will be limited to trivia questions and sharing memories from previous years but the page will also be used for other information regarding the event but not necessarily on Wednesdays.

Last week the question was what month was the first Winona Horse Trials? The answer was September 1985 less than two years after Dave and I got married. He didn't know what he was getting into ;)

This week's is a two part question. Where was the event held? Include dressage, cross country and show jumping.

I'll post the answer later today.

Hopefully I'll have the FB page done later today, but for now I've got a lot to do outside on this beautiful day! Enjoy!!

I'm starting to put together the list of materials we will need to upgrade our show jump fences. I need a little input from you. For thoe who have been here before you are familiar with the fence we refer to the Thanksgiving fence because of the colors. So I have come up with colors that are pretty close but with a different design and 2' Thanksgiving turkeys on either side. My question, do you like the turkey's that will be just to the inside of the wings. Some may thing it may be a bit strange doing Thanksgiving in July this would simply be a reminder that anytime we can jump and compete with our horses we should thanks. OR we could paint the wings a different color and come up with completely different rails using this design. What are your thoughts? Thanks

I couldn't wait for the next Winona Wednesday to announce that we are upgrading the show jumping course in celebration of the 40th running of the Winona Horse Trials. Many thanks to Willow Wind Equine Jumps who contacted me yesterday to build and donate the wings for the NEW Stone Gate Farm jump. Below is a mock up of what it will look like.

Stay tuned for more information and how you can help.

UPDATE: No one even ventured a guess on the month the first Winona was held. It actually was held the end of September.

Now that the competition season is officially over, we're gearing up for 2025. First up is preparations for the 40th running of the Winona Horse Trials! We have a lot of ideas for celebrating FORTY years and we would we have a lot to share with you, so we are going to start the Winona Wednesdays early this year. Every Wednesday from now an though May 7th, that's 29 Wednesdays in total, I will be sharing some history, trivia questions, ideas for the celebration. I really would like to get all competitors and their supporters, Stone Gate Farm Volunteers past, present and future to get involed. First up I need a new logo to mark this milestone. You will find the document I'm sending to Jennifer Millliner, my go to graphic designer, and some notes as to how I would like them tweaked. What are your thoughts? Any suggestions?

Trivia question for today: What month was the first Winona Horse Trials held?

Many thanks to Stephanie Tarr for running the Jagged Ridge Mountain Trail Series at the farm this year!! We hope everyone had a great time! In the mean time the trail park is open by appointment as long as the weather is good. Just message me on FB or text me at 330-277-6964. Come out and have some fun!

And a little update on the course. Since it was dry Dave removed the sludge in the water obstacle and it is going to get a load of footing in it to make it even better.

Funny, I was thinking of setting up something like this since all the show jumps are out of the ring.

Many thanks to Laura Emily King Fine who finished tabulating scores and verified everyone's volunteers hours and who has written a program that will make tabulating scores much more efficient next year. Unfortunately many riders missed out on receiving awards because the did not meet the minimum of 4 volunteer hours. There will be plenty of opportunities to volunteer next season, many of which will be well before the competitions and we will develop some jobs that can be done from home that will count towards your volunteer hours.

In any case, here are the top 3 for each level, congratulations to ALL!!. Working on how we're going to get the awards to you.
