❌‼️ URGENT ‼️❌

This boy is named Gunner and he is on borrowed time at the local shelter. Gunner came into Abadie a few weeks ago as a new patient after being found in the woods. During his examination he was very scared and did not like when we restrained him. Many of our patients don’t like this & we just take extra precautions for them. We tried to educate about the shelter and the fate he would have there. We even reached out to a local trainer to help the family with Gunners transition & It was declined.

As anyone who has rescued any type of animal, we know it takes a full 90 days for an animal to fully settle in and feel comfortable. Gunner was not given that time and was brought to the animal shelter yesterday. Upon checkin he was nervous and snapped at staff. He is on a 3 day stray hold and then unfortunately he will probably be euthanized.

Gunner has been started on meds for heartworm treatment that we will continue if a committed foster or adopter steps up. We also will cover the costs for training sessions to get him settled into his new home. We want to help in any way possible. Please reach out to us if you can save this boys life!

Drum roll…. We have a winner!!

Help us congratulate Zenzo on completing his chemotherapy sessions! Our boy has successfully gone through 6 sessions like a champ! Dr. Reese originally saw Zenzo on December 26, 2023 for limping and a swollen leg. Dr. Reese was settling into AVH as a new associate and had to deliever the unfortunate news.... the C word. Like any worried pet parent they had reservations about the entire process but Dr. Reese consulted with a oncologist and started AVH's first chemotherapy sessions. Today marks the end of the new beginning for Zenzo!
