Banks is taking what he learned on the farm and applying it in public.
This is how we like to spend our evenings β€οΈ
Late night chest scratches are the best.
We have a great group of boarding guests this weekend. This is Cane, one of our regular boarding guests, and we love looking after him when his owners are away β€οΈ
Dog grieve too. Caroline(the dog I'm petting,) Lily(the Aussie,) and Brody(the mastiff,) lost a family member a few weeks ago. We did our best to pick them up and shower them with love and good energy. It worked for most of their stay, but their mourning was extra apparent this morning. Continued prayers for their family ππ
We had a great set of boarding guests over the 4th of July holiday! Patiently Pawlished Canine Training
We have had the most fun with boarding dogs this weekend. On Friday evening, I looked around the kennel building and realized that with the exception of Rio and Loki, all the dogs boarding inside were trained by Patiently Pawlished. We have had good group walks and a truly lovely time with this wonderful herd of dogs.
Skeeter is getting in his public access hours! He gets better with every trip to town and he LOVES it! Today, skeeter visited Target, Academy, the mall, and Cinergy. I had every intention of making a quick trip around Cinergy then taking him back outside. But he handled the noise, lights, and excited kids like a pro! He settled right in and showed no signs of stress. He even took a nap. As soon as we got outside, I took off his vest and turned him loose. He was a Happy happy happy Dog π Skeeter is such a rock star and I'm excited to be part of his journey into service work.
I really had to give myself a pep talk to work dog in the wind. After I got started, it wasn't so bad. These dogs have all been on group walks, but this was all the students together on the windiest day yet. They definitely could have thrown away their ears and had a valid excuse. But I think they were tolerating the wind about like I was. So we followed up with patience exercises inside. Such good dogs!!
Our prayers are with Canadian and all those affected by the fires. We pray for safety of the fire departments and volunteers, for the ranchers, and for all the animals involved. So scary!
I bought these waterproof dog coats at the beginning of the year thinking I would have them on hand in case a dog needed them. I bought one in every size and have used them so much on rainy/snowy days! They have helped keep dogs dry, reduced the amount of bedding I go through, and kept my kennel building cleaner on wet days. If you have a dog in your house and are looking for a way to keep your house cleaner on wet days, these $15 coats are the way to go!
Miss Molly and I got video-bombed by Hazel, Murfee, Tipsy, and Whip ππ€£
Sadie has a ton of energy, but she also has a bit of a timid side to her. She tried really hard to not like me when she came in. We have taken time to build a relationship and she is blossoming! With dogs who have energy like this, I always try to use it. She likes to go fast, so I go fast. She likes to be excited, so I'm excited. This is how I keep quick minded dogs like Sadie engaged. Patience will develop over the next couple weeks. Her foundation is what we have been building. I couldn't have asked her for better training sessions today.
