Frost The Doc, ‘Jesse’, is a 2016 AQHA gelding standing roughly 14.2h. Even though he is stunning, his looks are not the best thing about him. He is quiet, extremely well-mannered, gentle, and properly broke.
Under saddle, Jesse is straightforward and honest. He has an easy neck rein, moves off your seat and leg pressure well, and will ride collected when asked. He keeps a nice rhythm and is happy to travel on a loose rein without much correction. He is not more woah or go but rather rides very true to your leg and hand. Jesse easily picks up his leads and has a very comfortable, easy to ride lope. Lately, we’ve been working on him riding more ‘in the bridle’ naturally and he’s been coming along nicely.
Outside of the arena Jesse is brave and inquisitive. He is traffic safe; speeding cars, semi-trucks, squealing breaks, you name it. We’ve rode him through town across crosswalks, past store fronts, by pedestrians with dogs, etc. When he sees something, he is unsure of, he slows down, gets a better look, and carefully crosses. He is not the type to explode and tear off in the other direction. Heading down the trail Jesse has a nice forward walk. He won’t take off trotting without you asking, but you also don’t have to paddle your legs the whole time to keep him moving either. He carefully crosses logs, small ditches, and water.
As far as a lot of horses go in the barn, Jesse might as well be as quiet as a mouse. He doesn’t holler, doesn’t paw incessantly and doesn’t bang on his stall door. He is just plain nice to be around. He stands tied patiently, leads like a well-mannered horse should, and has no qualms about fly spray, showsheen, the farrier, blanketing, etc.
He turns out in a small group of geldings during the day and stalls at night. He tends to fall closer to the bottom in his groups pecking order. Jesse loads, and hauls well with others or alone.
