🌡 : The City of Killeen will partner with Friends in Crisis (412 East Sprott Street) to open an overnight warming center for five consecutive evenings. The center will operate from 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. each night, starting Sunday, January 5 through the morning of Friday, January 10.

📅 Schedule:
➡ Sunday, 01/05/24, 8 p.m. – Monday, 01/06/24, 11 a.m.
➡ Monday, 01/06/24, 8 p.m. – Tuesday, 01/07/24, 11 a.m.
➡ Tuesday, 01/07/24, 8 p.m. – Wednesday, 01/08/24, 11 a.m.
➡ Wednesday, 01/08/24, 8 p.m. – Thursday, 01/09/24, 11 a.m.
➡ Thursday, 01/09/24, 8 p.m. – Friday, 01/10/24, 11 a.m.

The City of Killeen policy is to open a warming center if the temperature or wind chill factor is expected to fall to or below 32°. : City of Killeen buildings are always open to the public and available for warming (and cooling off) during each facility’s normal business hours. Buildings include City Hall, libraries, the Family Recreation Center, Killeen Police Headquarters, etc.

Be careful when driving these next few days

🚨 Weather Update for Killeen 🚨

The City of Killeen, Texas is actively preparing for inclement weather expected on Thursday, January 9, 2025, and Friday, January 10, 2025. Below-freezing temperatures are expected overnight throughout the end of the week, with a chance of wintry precipitation, including freezing rain, sleet, or snow.

🔹 𝐖.𝐒. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞:
Starting 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝟓:𝟑𝟎 𝐩.𝐦. the W.S. Young Bridge (from 2201 S. W.S. Young Dr. to Atkinson Ave.) will be closed. The roadway will remain closed until winter weather conditions improve. Traffic control devices will be in place, and drivers should plan to use alternate routes.

🔹 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
• The 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is treating roadways.
• The City's 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 has sand spreaders and other equipment
ready for icy conditions.
• Salt has been delivered to all Fire and Police stations, as well as City Hall.

Stay safe, plan ahead, and avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous conditions! ❄️

Go see sweet Susie!!

Susie is a goofy and playful husky mix who needs time to get to know people. She would do best in a calm household with no kids under 12 years of age. She would love to have another doggie bff in her new home. She is about 9 months old, spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and ready for adoption as our Dog of the Week. Her adoption fee through Dec 28 is $15.

Edit to add...this girl has a microchip but it is not registered, and the implant facility has no record of the chip. We are desperate to find her family, please share!!

Another Thanksgiving is in the books and we are always thankful that you trust us with taking care of your dogs while you're away. Dinner was enjoyed and tummies are full! We hope your Thanksgiving was peaceful and full of love and happiness!!

Mea Culpa! We have been having trouble with our voicemail system since September, and only Saturday found over 60 unheard messages! We are SO SORRY we missed the opportunity to reach back to many of you. To those that persevered and reached us (eventually), THANK YOU. We have the issue resolved now (our provider assures us), but also now know a workaround to check periodically just in case.
